New website design
The last Ubuntu based CrunchBang release has officially reached the end of its life. To mark this occasion, a new design for the CrunchBang Linux website is being created.
The new design will be changing in the opposite direction to that recently taken by the Ubuntu design team, which only seems fitting. So, whereas the new style in Ubuntu is inspired by the idea of “Light”, the new style for CrunchBang will be inspired by the idea of “Dark”. o_O
Seriously though, the new design will feature a dark theme, a fixed width layout and a new unified custom Google search box, which will appear directly under the site’s main menu. Hopefully, these changes will strengthen CrunchBang’s identity (pardon the BS) and make the site more usable, while also making it easier to develop. The changes should also make it clear that CrunchBang is no longer based on Ubuntu, instead showing its new status of being a Debian GNU/Linux derivative.
The new website design will be rolled out over the next week or so. While this is happening, if you notice any problems, please can you make a note of them and provide any feedback and/or fixes in this forum thread. Thank you.

This change is absolutely welcome! At least for me. I like dark-themed things, in a positive term dark i mean.
Could you please post your new wordpresstheme, I’m working with wordpress myself right now and I’m thankful for any good example to learn from right now.
Thank you in advance. :)

@levant326, once the new design has been rolled out, I will try and make both the WordPress and DokuWiki themes available. :)

The new design has soul of #!, btw, when are you going to release stable debian based version?
November 25th, 2010 at 7:38 am
In most cases my eyes leak on the floor when I read white text on black background.
So can`t say I like it, sorry.
May I suggest to make color-switcher?
November 25th, 2010 at 7:46 am
@q11q11, a colour switcher has been added to the forums, the rest of the site will remain as it is, at least for the time being.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:16 am

Excellent work. Look forward to Statler’s ‘stable’ release. (Inverted commas because the alpha’s are possibly the most stable distro I’ve ever used!)

But when will Statler see the LIGHT of day :-?
Am dying to see what Statler brings to the table.
Please hustle.

I know this topic is a tad old and Statler is a tad new but I just noticed a discrepancy on the website. Under “About CrunchBang Linux” you have “… popular applications installed by default, including but not limited to Iceweasel (Debian’s Firefox) …” which is no longer true from my understanding, it’s Google Chrome. If I’m wrong then so be it. Just thought I would mention it… can’t wait to install Statler!!! :)
