Topic: Access to NetworkManager Applet and tray
Hi,
I have installed CrunchEEE 8.10.02
on my Eee-PC 1000H. Since the screen is really small, I rather prefer to have the panel with taskbar and system tray to the left of the screen, instead of the bottom position. I use the default panel installed with #! : lxpanel.
Problem is that the tray (notification area) is not displayed correctly then. Actually, I could live without the tray, if I had another access to the NetworkManager interface.
I tried to start the applet from the terminal, but it does not make the application to popup, apparently just starting it. I tried to access to it through the menu, but it lead me to another network configuration tool that I am not using, since it cannot handle WPA
.
My questions are the following :
1) does anyone know an alternative way to access to the NetworkManager application, without having to click on the tray Icon ?
2) otherwise, , is there any way to configure the tray applet of the panel, so that it behaves correctly when the bar is used vertically ?
3) can you confirm to me that there is no way to have the lxpanel auto-hiding ?
4) there is also a "menu" applet that we can add to the panel. I did not manage to configure it (add some shortcuts, remove some others). Can anyone tell me how to do this ?
5) Does any of you know a lightweight flexible panel which could be used instead of lxpanel, in vertical mode ?
Many thanks.
Best regards,
alef
