give swiftfox a try
seems interesting... I'll try it out when I'm back from vacation...
Do the processor optimizations really make that big a difference? Also it seems a lil behind in version.
I've used swiftfox for a couple of years now, at first (firefox 2x) it did seem to be quicker, using it on my EEE and desktop. However now with FF3 the gain is non-noticeable. Having noscript running on FF3 makes mine run really fast now
I've never been able to work out if the gain in speed (if any) is worth it with swiftfox. I just stick with Firefox now.
i immediately noticed faster loading times, even compared to opera!

I've noticed a marked increase with noscript running as well, it's lighting now...
I've been running Swiftfox as my default browser for some time now. It is much faster than Firefox or Opera.
Noscript is great on FF3 indeed. Not much difference with Swiftfox though, so I stuck with FF3.
I instantly thought you were talking about Opera 9 when I saw the title of this post. ![]()
Unfortunately it's only on 3.0.4pre* right now (behind 3.0.6) and the performance gains might not be clear cut. For Eee 901 users, I notice there's no Atom build - would Atom have little to gain?
* Note Swiftfox is supposed to have better protection from buffer overflow attacks so lagging a version or two might be a little less serious than it sounds.
What about Swiftweasel? Its another optimized Firefox.

well It's a optimized iceweasel... They're not allowed to call it firefox since it's 100% free...:P (debian paranoia and firefox liking their logos)
from the wikipedia entry it seems like it's better maintained.
i still just use epiphany, with the firefox speed tweaks to about:config its faster than i could ever want.
firefox 3.1 beta is a lot faster than anything else, and it just as stable 3.0 for me.
I had a spot of trouble with the Firefox 3.1 betas cos of this bug:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467747
It was fixed today so hopefully they'll be getting beta 3 out the door soon.
ah, I didn't notice that, it must have been working in some of the earlier betas or nightly builds when I installed the plugins
i now use swiftweasel, even prefer it over opera! bye bye my love ![]()
Fasterfox Lite just went to a new version on March 7 at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/9148
It's strictly experimental but works well on my machines.
