Re: Distro-hoppers Anonymous

Just a few days ago I installed Peppermint Two with the intention to stick with it, now a new release of Crunchbang came, with proper drivers for my wireless card on top! Now I might have to scrape my Debian KDE which I don't really use and have Crunchbang alongside my Peppermint install. Imagine my horror as I saw a tweet from the developer of Peppermint saying that he's working hard on version 3. Horror!

Re: Distro-hoppers Anonymous

^The only problem I have with Peppermint, is LXDE.  I run dual head and LXPanel wants to stretch all the way across both monitors.  I only want one monitor (like XFCE and tint on Openbox)

Re: Distro-hoppers Anonymous

I have some issues with it as well - for example the Ice application which is pretty much the identity of the distribution is not working for me - cannot set icons to the web apps I make. Hopefully, the next version is going to fix that.

Re: Distro-hoppers Anonymous

oh... just remembered.... there's hadron...  ^_^   damn.   it's just too damn alluring.

ok, ok... i think i might have to give hadron the full "college try".  ^_^

http://hadronproject.org/

reading that first page... before you're even quarter way through, it should have you sitting up and paying attention, maybe even drooling a little.

the short of it, it's like it has the best of both worlds, of gentoo, and arch.   ... and it's committed to freedomware!  no binary, no proprietary.  stuff as simple as it needs to be.

ok ok, so it's early days for hadron yet.  it's number of packages will likely prevent it becoming my primary os just yet... but certainly one to watch.  smile

(thnx cog for introducing me to it...  revenge for me introducing you to exherbo?)

Re: Distro-hoppers Anonymous

Hadron pleases me with one clause:

Didn’t you feel “oh great, here is another useless distro” a little right?

Please don’t. We are not trying to create a shiny-super-even-for-you-noob-oh-wow-look-at-these-effects distro nor aiming to “decrease Micro$oft’s market share” etc. This is just a Linux distribution (more likely package manager) experiment. Hadron doesn’t even have enough packages in the package repository to please most end users. That’s what we have for now. You’re very welcome if you want to help.

I like that!
