Topic: New Pastebin Available

There is a new pastebin available at: http://crunchbanglinux.org/pastebin/

For anyone not familiar with concept, pastebins are tools designed to help you collaborate on debugging code snippets. Most people use them like this:

  • submit a code fragment to the pastebin, getting a url like http://crunchbanglinux.org/pastebin/1

  • paste the url into a forum post, IRC or IM conversation

  • someone responds by reading and perhaps submitting a modification of your code

  • you then view the modification, maybe using the built in diff tool to help locate the changes

The new pastebin has primarily been provided for CrunchBang users, but it is open to anyone. Please feel free to make use of this tool and encourage others to use it too; using the pastebin is a great way to provide support by debugging configuration files and more.

Excellent big_smile This may be a handy tool for some of the threads like the conkyrc  one which get pretty lengthy with the code added.

Already using it to post my rc.xml ^^

Excellent idea.

Re: New Pastebin Available

Ahhh handy, will be useful for large splashes of code here and there.

Re: New Pastebin Available

How can I erase the old version of a file created by me?

I just notice a bad shortcut (it would stop me from going back on the browser) and had to change the file, and its set to last forever and ever o.o
If possible I would like to delete that old version

I will look into it. Having said that, it might be a good idea for the pastebin to archive everything!? It is fairly easy to create new pastes from existing ones, the originals will then inform users of any follow-up pastes.

Re: New Pastebin Available

Very cool!

I had been using paste2.org for my pastebin needs.

Thanks, Philip!
