Topic: different mouse cursor?

How do I go about getting different mouse cursor installed and use?, aside just plane white.

You can find cursor themes here. To install them, just extract it to /usr/share/icons.

To change cursors, you can use gcursor (install from repositories).

doesnt work for me. I installed gcursor thru apt-get it comes up with my new cursors but wont load, install, take me to the theme folder nothing, no matter what i click. I tried to also do it manually editining index.theme but to no avail

i use the chrome pointer downloaded off of gnome-look.org and extracted in /user/home/.icons and then opened preferences>user interface settings and got it no problem.

I figured it out. I deleted the index.theme in /usr/share/icons/default and added it to ~/.icons/default

The simple solution to have the cursor theme installed is as follows.
1. Download a cursor theme you want (mostly from gnome-look.org)
2. extract the file in ~/.icons folder (if not create ~/.icons folder)
3. create ~/.icons/default directory
4. copy the index.theme file here and check inherits=<mouse theme name>
5.logout and log in to see the change

Thats pretty much what I did, just see my last post.
