Topic: I'm new and need some help with ext4 and where is 64bit?

So I got crunchbang but went to manual partition and no ext4 option?? I know ubuntu and linuxmint 9.04 both have it as a choice , but i dont see it? Is crunchbang based on 9.04?

Also I dont see a 64bit choice? why not?? where is it?

Re: I'm new and need some help with ext4 and where is 64bit?

the cd is based of 8.10 However there is a thread on how to setup #! 9.04 (basically you download the ubuntu 9.04 minimal cd and apply a script that turns it into #!)
I believe the thread is titled 'Crunchbang 9.04?' or something similar.

The 9.04 version is done, it just hasnt been remastered into an .iso.

Also it supports both 32 and 64bit, so if you want 64, just download the ubuntu 9.04 minimal cd, and make sure its the 64bit flavor.

Well I will wait for the 9.04 offical iso I guess before I start using, reformat and start again, how much longer before its out?

hard to say, it was meant to be out a while ago, but corenomial got married! Can't be long now anyways.

Isn't 9.04.01 unofficial basically the same thing as 9.04.01 official?

Re: I'm new and need some help with ext4 and where is 64bit?

yea, though recently(today?) core released an update, according to him, to prepare for 9.04 official. It changed the usplash, the login noise, and a few other little bits. But, its basically the same. And if you used the unofficial script, you can just install the updates afterwards (I'm running it myself).

Download the x64 version of Ubuntu mini:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/ … t/mini.iso

type "cli" at the prompt; install per directions.  Boot into your install and do the following:

wget http://crunchbanglinux.org/build-script … 9.04.01.sh

chmod +x crunchbang-installer-9.04.01.sh

sudo ./crunchbang-installer-9.04.01.sh

Re: I'm new and need some help with ext4 and where is 64bit?

Thanks it works great

Happy other than the annoying startup login screen blasting sounds, I like the old one better

Re: I'm new and need some help with ext4 and where is 64bit?

The old startup sound reminded me of arcades/ mario on the nes.... I do miss it. This one will take some getting used to.

Personally I just disabled the sound, but thanks for the script

Now I have a good clean ext4 64bit build , I prefer this method better
