Cannot access I2C control files, performance control will be unavailable.

i've installed it and added it to the stuff to the autostart.sh but i can't get performance options. This is the debug info from the daemon. Any help wud be appriciated.

yeah i do but i've had a further loook around and it seems that on the 1000h this common issue comes up
Under some circumstances, I2C/SMBus is not available because the BIOS "hides" the controller. In this case performance control is disabled.
Hi I have a 901 & #! is great.
As others have noted the eee applet is a great utility. On ubuntu it sits in the tray and allows you to toggle wifi,sd, speed, camera etc
But I need some help to get this running on the #!. Its a bit confusing as a number of scripts seem to be written to do similar things.
I am using cruncheee downloaded yesterday and so I have the right kernel
I have removed eee-config and installed eee-control using synaptic.
but If I type eee-control or eeecontrol nowt happens.
should I install the eeepc-acpi-scripts and or the eee-applet? or are these unrelated? - the ideal thing is for the applet to automatically launch into the tray.

cimh, check out http://greg.geekmind.org/eee-control/ pointed to by Nik_Doof. Also you may have to manually edit /etc/modules and commnet out the asus_eee so they will not load.

Nik_doof replied: 'This is a issue with enabling SHMConfig on the Touchpad. You need to modify your xorg.conf to pick this up, or modify the HAL policy files to enable the fuctionality, either way is a ballache'
I think I could end up messing up the touchpad - so I might hold on this one for now, until I know what I'm doing!

I can't seem to get the wifi toggle working correctly with cruncheee + eee-control. It disables the wifi, but when trying to enable it again I just get errors in dmesg. I've got it working on another eee-pc with the full installation.

They suggested a modprobe fix but since I don't really know what that is I left it there.
Has anyone a working wifi-toggle with cruncheee and eee-control?

I can't seem to get the wifi toggle working correctly with cruncheee + eee-control.
Hi I think this is a problem that's wider than #! or eee-control. I had it on eee ubuntu b4 moving to #! and I had it there before installing eee-control. switching wifi off with f2 then re-enabling it in my ubuntu caused the eee to find the signal and try to connect to it but to then fail on the authentication process. My solution was to never hit f2 or reboot. The f2 toggle has however worked flawlessly on some distros including ubuntu in the past so I assume some code has sneaked in which doesnt disable the wifi properly. I wonder if this is related to the lean kernel?

Here's a question: is there any disadvantage to not installing eee-control? I downloaded the eee-control_0.9.4_1005HA.deb file, but attempts to install resulted in errors complaining of dependencies on dkms. I've only been running #! on my 1005HA for a few days, but so far I've encountered zero problems.
