But it is on my netbook with wi-fi, maybe it changes something on the other computer big_smile

Edit : no it does'nt change anything. So why surfing is slower on my netbook ? It is the power of my computer which is lmiting the speed I guess.

I'm at school now, but my internet connection at home, on wired is about 7MB/s DL and about 2MB/s upload.

Roughly half that if I'm on wi-fi sharing it hmm Got Wideopenwest, Detroit area, Michigan. Here is me at school, Dearborn Michigan:

How do you determine who is providing the highest speeds in your area other than calling around to the cable companies?

Comcast has terrible customer service.  My TV works fine but the internet and phone went out yesterday afternoon.  I got online with their customer service and he said that someone would come out within 24 hours.  Around noon today, I called to see what the tech's status was and they said that no order had been put in forr tech to come out.  I asked them to schedule someone and they said it would be Saturday before someone could get out here.  I went to the office and now they are going to try to fit me in tomorrow.

EDIT:  I contacted another company and they said it would be the 19th before they could have someone over.

According to the chart on my screen, I'm doing better than Comcast's average, so I guess I can't complain too much.
Or go anywhere else, comcast is my only option basically.

thats using gprs (mobile broadband) in a supposedly 3g area, and its actually quite fast today.

im a bit confused tho, im apparently less than 50 miles from london, and i live in yorkshire which is more like 200 miles hmm

i only get that speed at my girl friends, the annoying thing is that my lappys broke so im back to the pentium 3 500mhz beast so the bottleneck is the browser speed, so i still can't watch you tube, or open a tab in < 5 sec sad

although looking on the bright side, i can't watch you tube.
