Topic: Screen goes blank, computer unresponsive during Live session
I'm using a Alpha2 version disk that works fine on other computers. Trying it out Live on a Dell Latitude X300 with 1152 MB Ram, Pentium M 1.4Ghz which is running 9.04.
After about 10-15 minutes of fooling around (using browser, opening various items from the menu) the screen goes blank. After hitting a key I get a window that first lists the version info:
X.Org X Server 1.7.7
Release Date 2010-05-04
etc.
Markers
etc.
(==) Log file:"/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time etc.
(==) Using system config directory "usr/share/X11/Xorg.conf.d"
FATAL: Module fbcon not found. (my emphasis)
I choose the only option "Exit"
I'm asked if I would like to view detailed x server output as well? I select "yes"
I get basically the same version info, markers, etc without the "FATAL: Module fbcon not found." message. But the added line:
(==) No layout section. Using the Screen section. (again my emphasis)
After selecting OK, and selecting "no" to whether I or not I want to see detailed x server output, I get a new message:
"The x server is now disabled. Restart GDM when it is configured correctly."
followed by a blank screen and nothing that can be done except turn off the computer by holding down the power button.
This has happened about 4 times in a row and isn't associated with what I do in the Live session. For example, in a few sessions I changed some settings, but even in the session where no settings were changed the same thing happened.
