Topic: Anyone fluent in Spanish? (2 replies, posted in Off Topic / General Chat)
Hi everyone,
I'm grasping at straws here, but have left this quite late and am looking for help.
I want to submit my short film to Alcine
http://www.alcine.org/inscripcion/europ
p?idioma=2
But I need to include Spanish subtitiles.
I've tried google translate, but on translating back the results were unusable (if hilarious).
I would massively appreciate it if anyone here, fluent in Spanish, could help.
(it's less than 300 words)
Thanks

I'm finally upgrading from ubuntu based to debian based #!
Just want to ask here before going ahead with the wipe...
This is what I've backed up - please let me know if you see any glaring ommissions
tint config
conky config
openbox menu, autostart, rc configs
what I need from /home
Made a list of installed programs and decided I don't need to backup any of their settings
Do you think I'm good to go?

What bookmarklets are #!ers using?
The following are the bookmarklets I use. (You may acheive similar results through the use of extensions or otherwise)
http://www.instapaper.com/
Saves articles for reading later. Been having trouble with this and the new version of Opera so use the extension now.
http://readitlaterlist.com/
Does the same as above, but I use this separate service for saving links to videos, to watch later on my media centre.
http://email.about.com/library/misc/blg
arklet.htm
Gmail This. Does what you'd expect.
https://posterous.com/
Posterous bookmarklet allows you to share web content on verious blogging or social networking sites (tumblr, facebook, twitter etc.)
http://www.printwhatyoulike.com/pagezipper
Automatically merges "Next" pages into one, so you can scroll through them. Very useful for google results.
https://www.readability.com/bookmarklets/
Formats articles for easy screen reading. Readability have started offering a "read list" service like Instapaper but I think this function is a pay service.

In Opera 11 (on WinXP) the forums toggle theme & width functions no longer work.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes, I have added some new icons:
As identified, the first will toggle between the default theme and a not so dark alternative theme, the second will toggle between fixed and fluid widths. I hope this helps.
P.S. The icons are located under the forum's main "INDEX" link, you may or may not need to refresh a couple of times before they appear.
Thank you! Much better ![]()
Also, love the monochrome smilies

Its a conspiracy. Right there after the last post on each page.
It's not showing for me! No barcodes anywhere.
Btw... it is hard - on my screen at least - to tell which quote link is for which post. I know there is a line between posts but its not really visible on my screen.
EDIT:
OK, now I see them!

Re: New website design coming (206 replies, posted in News & Announcements)
that looks a bit tiring for the eyes, i would suggest a choose template droplist at the bottom of the page
I have to agree on that one.
The crunchbang forum is the easiest to read of any forum I frequent. It just has a sense of openness about it.
I use the readability bookmarklet alot (http://lab.arc90.com/experiments/readability/) and initially thought that grey on black would be best for reading, but the ghosts of text lines followed me away from the screen every time and I've since changed it to a black on medium grey.
It would be great if there was an option to keep the current theme in the forum preferences.

Cool, thanks for that.
I actually didn't know that the pinned tabs feature was already implemented.
I would suggest you have a look at jdownloader for downloading from file sharing servers without wait times etc - which would negate the need for a number of your extensions.
It's open source, cross platform and java based.
It monitors the clipboard for links (if you want it to), can also download YouTube videos and is fairly customizable (setting domains to ignore etc.)

"Today is very important for Linux Mint. It's one day to remember in the history of our project as we're about to maintain a new distribution, a rolling one, which promises to be faster, more responsive and with which we're less reliable on upstream components. Linux Mint Debian edition (LMDE) comes with a Debian base, which we transformed into a live media and on top of which we added a new installer. It's rougher and in some aspects not as user-friendly as our other editions, it's very young but it will improve continuously and rapidly."

Re: Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse (2 replies, posted in Devel: CrunchBang 10 "Statler")
Still having no luck.
I found a few different workarounds online but none worked
I think that the live cd connected them as just USB wireless keyboard and mouse and not bluetooth.
I disabled bluetooth using BUM and was able to connect my mouse (though not at the GDM screen)
I dunno. If I can't get this working I'll be sticking with windows on my desktop.
Really liking what I've seen so far of statler though. I'll be upgrading all the laptops in the house soon ![]()

Re: Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse (2 replies, posted in Devel: CrunchBang 10 "Statler")
Found this - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour
omments/10
I had a look at bug #444420 and came up with a solution, well at least one that works for me, I changed a line in /lib/udev/rules.d/70-hid2hci.rules
from
# Logitech devices
KERNEL=="hiddev*", ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d", ATTRS{idProduct}=="c70[345abce]|c71[34bc]", \
RUN+="hid2hci --method=logitech-hid --devpath=%p"
to
KERNEL=="hidraw*", ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d", ATTRS{idProduct}=="c70[345abce]|c71[34bc]", \
RUN+="hid2hci --method=logitech-hid --devpath=%p"
I also turned bluetooth off from the icon in the notification bar.
Hope this helpsthrough this thread - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour
bug/269851
but that's for ubuntu
Debian seems to have both the hiddev and hidraw sections. Should I comment out the hiddev?

Topic: Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse (2 replies, posted in Devel: CrunchBang 10 "Statler")
Hi
I'm having trouble setting up my logitech DiNovo Keyboard and Mouse (there is also a separate number pad, but I'm not worried about that for now)
When I ran the live CD they worked automatically.
When I installed and logged in for the first time it worked.
When I restarted I was stuck at GDM as I they were not connected so I was unable to log in.
I logged in with another keyboard and launched bluetooth-applet
When I try to add the devices through this, they are seen but sometimes dissapear from the device list.
When I add the keyboard I get as far as entering the auth code, but then I'm told that the connection failed and given no reason why.
When I try to add the mouse it asks me to enter 'null' and eventually fails.
Sometimes a bluetooth dialogue pops up saying that it has detected the mouse or the keyboard and asks to grant access. I checked always grant access. After this it appears in the bluetooth applet preferences window for a few moments but dissapears soon after.
It seems like a signal problem but I never have a problem on windows, and both the keyboard and the mouse worked flawlessly during the live cd and the initial intall boot.
Any ideas how I can fix this?

Re: Opera repository public key (9 replies, posted in Help & Support (Stable))
Yes, I tried sudo.
I didn't check permissions on the folder in the error.
To be honest I don't know anything about these keys other than that you have to add them when you add a third party repo.
But why should I need to check the permissions on it? Surely after a fresh install adding a key shouldn't be a problem.
