Have to admit that mini laptops are great! Small, light-weight and very portable devices. Well, I ended up to buy Acer Aspire One, AOA150-Bw. Here is a screenshot of my present desktop.

Hi,
I finally bought my a mini laptop for myself, Acer Aspire One. My machine is as follows:
- AOA 150-Bw
- P/N LU.S040B.188
- Model No. ZG5
- Intel Atom 1.6 N270
- Ram 1 GB DDR2
- HD 160 GB
- OS Win XP Home
- System BD/BIOS: 35/3301
First I updated the bios from 3301 to 3309. I followed Hillsoft's instructions. I used #! Lite edition and installed fan control acerhdf, display adjustment etc. #! works well! I'm currently running #! from 4 GB micro SD card but will install later it on the hd side by side with XP.
The fan control worried about me at first because no noise almost at all. I guess the fan is not spinning at all. But during installing all updates temp went up somewhere 65C and the fan started to spin. Guess it is working properly...

Great work! Me too waiting for the upgrade instructions. I went to see mini laptops. There is a big temptation to buy one but my hp pavillion dv6000 is working just fine so no good reason to get a second one.
I would but ... you know.

Re: My Conky Config (2,564 replies, posted in Tips, Tricks & Scripts)
I put to the pastebin one of my .conkyrc files. http://crunchbanglinux.org/pastebin/55. Nothing new or fancy there. The conky is a little bit narrower (maybe better on mini pc's screen) and tells a few basic infos and rhythmbox details if it's working. A command ${if_running process} is nice for that. If Rhythmbox is not working all it's infos disappear from the conky. The basic conky idea from here http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ tent=81894. I just added those all conkys together and changed the colors etc..
System updates: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.p 12974.html
Email and Rhytmbox details: http://www.kaivalagi.com/node/1
Weather: Acc. to Hanna's example and here http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ tent=94467. To get weather info working curl has to be installed (package manager) and you have to go to http://www.accuweather.com/us-city-list p;zipcode=. Enter your location and when it's on the screen look from the end of http://-address what is the code. In my location it is "EUR|FI|FI002|LAHTI" (line 123 in .conkyrc). Ie. I searched for Lahti, Finland on international locations.
I just put the info here what I had to digg up before got everything working. If there is anything usefull, I'm glad.
If there are mistakes, feel free to correct me. Oh, and here is conky pic... http://www.flickr.com/photos/lotjak/3201435141/.
EDIT: Line 121: ${color A0A0A0}${exec conkyRhythmbox --datatype=PT} / ${execi 1800 conkyRhythmbox --datatype=LE}
better to be : ${color A0A0A0}${exec conkyRhythmbox --datatype=PT} / ${exec conkyRhythmbox --datatype=LE}
Ie. songs's length (${execi 1800 conkyRhythmbox --datatype=LE}) is updating now in 1800 seconds, no good. With ${exec conkyRhythmbox --datatype=LE} it is updating immediately.

I tried #! Live 8.10.01 from usb stick on my work laptop, Compaq nc6320. All started to work out of the box. Wlan was detected, sounds are working, volume keys are fuctioning properly etc. Only bluetooth I didn't test.
My work machine, Compaq ncc6320:
CPU: Intel T2500 2,0 GHz, L2 cache 2048 KB
RAM: 512 MB
HDD: 120 GB
Screen: 15.4" normal
Video: Intel Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML integrated
Sound: Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family)
Network: Ethernet Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5788, Wlan: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
4 x USB 2.0, 1 x Fire, Bluetooth
Last year I tested quite many linux distros on this laptop in order to have usb linux while I'm travelling abroad. Many distros have been worked well but for now on I will absolutely use #!.

Thank you! And while listening good music I can in the same time follow song's lyrics. Don't know fast cars, just a few months ago I bought a good bicycle for myself. Last one was bought somewhere in the beginning of 80's. ![]()

@Omns: Rhythmbox-client gives us a way to show in conky which is now playing.
For example:
${color #5b6dad}Now Playing: ${color}${exec /usr/bin/rhythmbox-client --print-playing}..and song words: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.ph tent=95134
In .conkyrc:
${font DejaVu Sans:size=8}${execi 10 lyricsdownloader | fold -sw60 }${font}17 2009-01-04 08:55:24

After modifying and playing with conky and different panels: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lotjak/3150706517/.
This is fun, even if sometimes there were moments when nothing worked as they should have! Especially with conky... install curl... modify weather.sh... etc. huh huh.
Would it be good to start make notes... ![]()
Once again thanks for nice icons and wallpapers!

Re: DVDFab and Wine (24 replies, posted in Help & Support (Stable))
If someone is intersted in, for example OSLO Edu, a free optical design program seems to be working normally with wine too. Just download the exe-file and let the wine open and install it. Check carefully where it was installed and add to menu.xml a new entry for OSLO Edu and for "execute" wine "C:\\Program Files\OSLO\EDU64\osloedu.exe".
This is fun. ![]()

EDIT: wine "C:\\Program Files\OSLO\EDU64\osloedu.exe" in my case.
