ShaqArif wrote:If you're happy with the size of the keyboard, then I think the eee 901 is the best of the lot:
- Great battery life
- large multitouch touchpad
- bluetooth
- wireless N
- easily upgradeable SSD and RAM
- massive support community
It's also sturdy - I dropped mine yesterday (accidently) 3ft onto concrete and when I opened it up in trepidation, it just flickered into life from the point that I had suspended it from!
Thats why I picked the 901 20gb ssd and I'm very happy with it.
I can't seem to get the wifi toggle working correctly with cruncheee + eee-control. It disables the wifi, but when trying to enable it again I just get errors in dmesg. I've got it working on another eee-pc with the full installation.

Found some topics about this error googling around, but the content is like greek to me (I don't know greek)
They suggested a modprobe fix but since I don't really know what that is I left it there.
Has anyone a working wifi-toggle with cruncheee and eee-control?
Many thanks in advance!

Any more ideas?
I get the same error when trying to install eee-control on a cruncheee 901. It worked when I installed eee-control on the full version of crunchbang (on a 901 aswell).
Have u been able to sort this out?
corenominal wrote:Hello maerem
You should be able to inspect your logs by selecting "System -> System Logs" from the main Openbox menu.
Hope this helps.
I bet it will.
Ill try that one as soon as i can.
Thanks!
Hi,
When i boot #! I get an error in the part where It's loading drivers and so on, but I'm never able to see whats going wrong since it prints text so fast.
Is there anyway I can read this log afterwards for troubleshooting?

Yeah, u really should. I ran my eee with the standard xandros dist with just some tweaking for a couple of months, but i rarely used it.
Since i decided to install #! on it i've used it more the last 3 days than i did the first 3 months (almost
)
But really, #! has brought life back to my eee. It also feels like the battery lasts longer since I reinstalled it.
I've just managed to get a bluetoth-connection with my cellphone. And with gnome-phone-manager I can even send and read sms.
Just launched bluetooth-applet from the run program application or terminal.
Went through the add new device-wizard from the applet (with bluetooth enabled on the phone of course)
Then I installed gnome-phone-manager from synaptic and launched the application. Got to browse for the bluetooth-device which I wanted to use and voila!, it worked.
Using eeePC 901 with a SE K810i-phone.
I found a better alternative. Uninstalled those scripts and installed eee-control from synaptic instead. Works like a charm!
Xeon Zombie wrote:Just an FYI, I tried the Elmurato ACPI scripts on a vanilla install of Ubuntu 8.10 running the array.org eee kernel.
Everything work. Even my 4 hotkeys. They only function that does not work are bluetooth (as expected, since the HA has not BT module).
I also get a double OSD when using my volume and mute keys, but I think I know how to fix that.
I wish I knew why these don't work on CrunchBang... after using #!, vanilla Ubuntu feels like a fat cow.
Any ideas? I used the same kernel both times (standard, not lean)
Did u do anything but executing the commands as described in the post? Cuz I don't get any OSD at all
Maybe u got mine OSD aswell. Except for that I think most of the hotkeys work for me (901)
I solved this myself, it was way easier than i thought. Just some settings in the connection in the network manager and single-click on the tray icon. Didn't see that option, just right-clicked as I'm used too.

The eee 901 is a powerful computer and can run either the lite or full versions without breaking a sweat. I doubt you'd notice a difference switching to the lite version like you would on old hardware. The biggest difference in performance is from using lighter applications, for example Kazehakase instead of Firefox. If you prefer Kazehakase, you can install it in the full version too.
If you need the applications in the full version (gimp, skype, abiword, audacity, etc) then you should probably stick with it. If all you need is a lightweight web browser, file manager, etc., then the Lite version might be right for you...
Thanks for your reply. I've decided to keep my installations since everything is working fine (mb except pretty high cpu usage while browsing with ff).
Hi,
I'm trying to make a network connection from #! installed on an eeepc 901 with my mobilephone (k810i).
When i connected the phone it automaticly added an usb-connection and a mobile connection in the network manager, but i cant connect.
I found a guide which involved installing gnome-ppp and turning of the pin code to the phone.
I was wondering if anyone else connect with a mobilephone or 3g-modem and have got it working without doing thses changes?
Thanks in advance!

as I said in my introduction thread, i installed the "full" version yesterday on my eee. Do u think i will be getting much better performance with this version instead?
I'm a new #!-user since a couple hours ago (was up all nite installing it on my eee 901)
21 yrs old, live in Sweden, not very familiar to linux but hopefully i'll learn.
First impressions where very good, but im thinking of reinstalling with the lite version today (nice timing
)
Got everything to work except when i tried to connect to the internet using my mobilephone.
I've read these forums a lot so i thought i should register aswell.
Cya around
