Yes, you are wrong. big_smile A list of installed applications for CrunchEee can be found at:  http://crunchbanglinux.org/wiki/applica … pc_edition

So far I'm just running my eeepc 901 from a usb stick using cruncheee.  Looks brilliant!
Wireless works!
How do I connect up a bluetooth mouse?
There does not appear to be any office stuff on this live version (it was on the full version).  Can I install open office once I have installed cruncheee to the hard drive?
Thanks
Mike

Hello Mike smile

Please see the following forum post for Bluetooth advice: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … bluetooth/

Regarding the office stuff, by default CrunchEee does not come with any office applications. There is a good guide on the forums about installing the latest version of OpenOffice.org, it can be found at: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … eorg-debs/

Hope this helps and welcome to the forums! smile

Thank you for the suggestion, I will give it some consideration. Vim is my preferred terminal editor and I am sure previous versions of CrunchBang included the vim-full package. Would anybody else like to second, third fladd's proposal?

Nice one, thank you Nik_Doof! This will come in handy, I think I should add it to the wiki FAQ as it has been asked about on several occasions.

Hello jimyjazz and welcome to the forums smile I am really pleased you are enjoying CrunchEee on your AAO. For your information, another user reported that they had installed an AAO specific Kernel on their CrunchEee install and said it worked well. The link provided was: http://www.kuki.me/kernel -- just thought you might like to know. wink Anyhow, welcome again, it is good to have you aboard!

There is an "n" missing from your menu item. See: http://crunchbang.pastebin.com/f4fd419e3 - line 41.

Hello zenjester and welcome to the forums smile

Thank you for your suggestion to include Geany, it has been noted. To be honest, I love Geany, it is an excellent editor and I will certainly keep it in mind for future releases. Having said that, gedit is also an excellent code editor and somewhat underrated. It has a huge array of features/plugins and can be configured to operate in numerous ways. IMHO, I think gedit currently has the edge in terms of quality and usability, but that is just me, what do others think?

I think you need to install the openbox-xdgmenu package.

I do not think that the openbox-xdgmenu package is required for the Debian menu to work. The only requirement is for the menu package to be installed.

Mehall, please could you post your modified Openbox menu and rc.xml file to the pastebin? Someone will then be able to confirm whether or not it should be working. smile

Hmm strange, okay, sorry for the faulty advice. I guess you could download the packages whilst using the LiveCD and save them to removable media, or even mount an internal drive and save to that. Download URLs:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/i38 … c/download
http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/i38 … c/download

Note, you will probably only need the second download. The first download is an empty metapackage. Once downloaded, try to reinstall with Gdebi.

Please see: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/post/5928/#p5928 - if you could let us know how you get on, it would be appreciated! smile For what it is worth, it has worked for others who are using Intel PRO/Wireless cards.

Hello Cope57 smile

Thank you for the feedback and welcome to the forums! Regarding your wireless, which card do you have?

I believe the animation is controlled by the "animateIconify" entry in ~/.config/openbox/rc.xml -  the default entry looks like this:

<animateIconify>yes</animateIconify>

I am not sure if it is possible to modify the animation to appear as if windows are sent up, as opposed to down; however, it is possible to turn it off. hmm

Edit: topic moved to "Openbox Talk"

Hello Guys smile

You could try using xrandr and adding an entry in your Openbox autostart file to automatically set the resolution for you. For example:

1. Open your autostart file for editing, right-click on your desktop and select "Preferences -> Openbox Config -> Edit autostart.sh"

2. Add a new reference to xrandr, somewhere near the top would be best:

xrandr --size 1280x800 &

Change the above dimensions to match your desired screen resolution. You should be able to get a list of available screen resolutions by entering the xrandr command without any arguments.

Hope this helps and welcome to the forums smile

Agreed, good documentation is essential to any project. Great work Scrat! smile

There is also an article over at: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/crunchbang … ll-via-cd/ - if you go ahead with the install, please let us know how you get on. smile

Hello Wizionus smile

I am not entirely sure a reboot is needed, try removing the packages and seeing what happens. Another user in another thread reported that the fix worked on the LiveCD.

kozimodo wrote:

Working great now and after testing the fix from the livecd, I went ahead and installed it.

Please let us know how you get on, it would be good to confirm the step needed to get this working on the LiveCD. smile

Is the terminal font not defined in your terminal's rc file? If you are using Terminator, it is listed simply as "Mono", which I believe is an alias (A depreciated one at that.) The alias probably points to either DejaVu Sans Mono or Bitstream Vera Sans Mono. If you run the following terminal command, it should print out the name of the font used on your system:

fc-match Mono

My system returns:

corenominal@muppy:~$ fc-match Mono
DejaVuSansMono.ttf: "DejaVu Sans Mono" "Book"

I am not sure if this is the answer you were hoping for, still, I found it interesting! big_smile

The sidebar links are generated by the planet script. I am not sure whether it is possible to change/override this, but I will look into it. smile

It is, that is, it is as long as you have kept your .01 machine up-to-date, in which case, the errors are puzzling. Is it the LinuxOutlaws.net Laconica instance which you connecting to? If so, I have an account so I can try to replicate if need be.

Hanna wrote:

My printer worked out of box with 8.10.02 (it didn't work with .01), but I'm not sure if it has anything to with it that I have separate home partition (which I let alone to save my important stuff and settings).

Thank you Hanna smile To be honest, I do not think that keeping your home partition intact would have any relation to whether or not CUPS is working -- I am pretty sure that the files concerned are located outside of the home partition. Again, thank you for confirming that your system is working, it is appreciated. smile

I have marked this topic as unconfirmed. It would be good if we could get some more feedback on this. Anyone else?

Hello Wizionus smile

Sorry to read you have been having trouble with your wireless. Another user experienced the same thing and we spent a good few hours trying to diagnose the problem. Hopefully the fix should be fairly easy, there are a couple of installed packages which are the cause of the problem, simply remove the packages and reboot to fix. Enter the following terminal command:

sudo apt-get remove linux-backports-modules-intrepid-generic linux-backports-modules-2.6.27-9-generic

Hope this helps and sorry for the inconvenience.

P.S. Welcome to the forums! smile

Hello Bazzawill smile

I know your problems are outside of what might be considered supportable for an Openbox distribution, but I am interested to know whether or not you have managed to sort your problems? Please keep us updated. smile

Do you have any updates with this? I am not sure there is anything I can add, other than to maybe suggest following the same procedure with different USB media, if available? At least then we can eliminate the possibility that it might be the physical device which is causing the problem. Let us know if you manage to crack it and please keep us updated. smile

Thank you for sharing the fix, it is appreciated! smile I have marked the topic as resolved.
