I'm am not too sure if anyone noticed(?), but the latest testing/unstable gtk3-engines-unico package breaks some GTK+ 3 applications in Waldorf. I believe this is due to a mismatch with GTK libs. When GTK+ 3.4 trickles down to testing, all should be good. For the time being, I have uploaded the previous gtk3-engines-unico packages to Waldorf's repository. I will remove them when safe to do so.
If anyone is interested, I believe this link details when things might get fixed:
http://bjorn.haxx.se/debian/testing.pl?
libgtk-3-0
I have noticed this too, but I have not been unable to replicate it with any type of accuracy, which makes debugging difficult. It would be good to know what is happening.
Sure, as soon as I have something more concrete, I'll put it in my GitHub account
Well, here is my effort, so far:

The widgets are all populated via settings in slim.conf, I just need to create the handlers for saving. The layout is a little crude, so if anyone wants to submit a revised mockup, please do

If multiple users are already set up, perhaps a drop-down list to select the autologin user?
Maybe a spinbutton to select autologin timeout?
Great idea, but I think I will keep it simple, at least to begin with. A simple toggle to autologin the active user.
Milozzy wrote:Honestly I really prefer the gnome-colors-statler...Gnome icon theme really looks a little bit outdated.
Having just revisited the Statler icon theme, I think I agree.
As far as special folders concern (documents, music, etc), it is a feature of the new thunar, gnome-colors-statler icon theme have them as well.
Confirmed.
Good man. I am willing to help out too, so don't feel you need to take it on by yourself.
I made a start this morning, creating a little Python GTK+ 3 app -- nothing working yet, just getting it laid out and figuring out the feature set.
To begin with, I figure the app could:
Thoughts?

Maybe Philip could look at it as an alternative of cb-exit.
Nifty, I'll take a look
I am not super keen on the navigation icons either. I have already altered the folder icons to remove the yellow tint, so replacing the navigation icons is not out of the question. I'll add it to my todo list.

So, does anyone fancy having a crack at this?
sano wrote:Or having it included in Waldorf, which would be my first OOB experience with this card
No promises, but I will look into it.
caieng wrote:Unlike the last edition of CrunchBang, the current "wheezy", which I am using to write this note, (i.e. works well) lacks a capability, or else I am brain dead, or both, to permit autologin, by clicking with the mouse on the appropriate menu item.
Is it an oversight by me, or by Debian, or by the powers that be? Perhaps omission of this capability is intentional? Did I perchance err by accepting the invitation to upgrade, post install of the freshly downloaded (by torrent, thanks!) new version?
SLiM does offer an autologin feature, but there isn't a GUI for it. I would imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to create a little GUI for this, and it might be nice if CrunchBang had a menu link for it. If I get time, and there aren't any other takers, I'll see what I can come up with.
Tunafish wrote:The first two keybindings do the same (I think) as cb-aerosnap.
Pretty much, yes, but cb-aerosnap has some basic session management, so hitting the keybind twice will return the window to its original position.
apm wrote:so if i downloaded the first dvd image and installed just it out of the ten, then i will have a working debian
install (with gnome,gcc,emacs,.etc).
I am not sure about emacs, but effectively, yes. If I remember correctly, only the first disc has ever been needed to perform an install, the rest, as already mentioned, carry additional packages -- many of which will have been superseded by security updates and the like.
VastOne wrote:Glad to see so much enthusiasm...
Agreed, this is fantastic. Thank you everyone, for testing, seeding, donating and helping each other out. You all rock!
Tunafish wrote:Corenominal, maybe you should update your first post if others want to test as well...
I have now edited the original post to point to GitHub. Sorry for the confusion.
This also brings some disappointment, as I already have keybindings to do this with openbox. So, what's the profit of the aerosnap script?
Well, originally the idea was to have left/right window snapping bound to screen edges, but I am almost sure that this is impossible to implement cleanly outside of the window manager, so now the script is just called via command arguments.
Regarding your keybindings, what commands are you using?
linux4life88 wrote:There are two new games of note that have crept into the Wheezy repositories: Unknown Horizons and 0ad. Both show great promise and are pretty fun right now as is.
Nifty, I have been wanting to give 0ad a try for ages. Yesterday, someone suggested I try openRA and I lost a good few hours. It's not in the Wheezy repo, but there is a deb on the website.
Milozzy wrote:...I will seed till I bleed!!!
Please do not hurt yourself! But thank you!
Noted, thank you. I will look into it
Wow! Thank you all for your feedback. I really was not expecting many people to actually give the first builds a try, but it seems to be flying off the servers. Great stuff, thank you

I'm running Statler (and was testing Waldorf) on a Samsung R60 Plus notebook.
Okay. I'll keep an eye peeled for any similar reports.

PS: I found another small issue with compton - when using the default (simple) configuration for it -
EXECXCOMP='compton -cC -G -b'
The terminator background is not transparent (as it should be) - it works okay with the "less basic" compostion and without composition.
Sometimes, when you enable compositing *after* starting terminator, it will show a solid background. Try restarting terminator and it should return to having a transparent background.
chiffon_rouge wrote:I seem to be the only who is getting the "failed to execute login command" error regarding SLIM? Whenever I boot the Live CD it shows me this error message and after that the SLIM login screen appears, yet I can't login, because I don't have a password/user account.
Is there a workaround? I would love to check out Waldorf before I abandon Statler.
Hmm, that doesn't sound good. What type of hardware are you running it on?
vicshrike wrote:machinebacon wrote:Should we - if we find bugs - post them here?
Should we start a megathread for Waldorf problems? Or should we just use the "Help&Support testing, unstable" section? Could be good to know, so we do not mess things up too much
Edit: Please see the new forum: Devel: CrunchBang 11 "Waldorf"

Will come back to this tomorrow, will try usb or alternative burners, if someone have some smart idea to suggest, feel free to share it. Despite the failure still
Why not give the USB method a try: http://crunchbanglinux.org/wiki/statler
