I've had a similar experience with 3's Huawei dongle/s.
Plug it in and you are good to go straight away!

Great review guys. Balanced and fair highlighting the pros / cons. Not that there were many if any cons!
Another top notch LO episode.
Have to agree with Fab, it is definitely snappier Ubuntu distro with Open Box, though you will probably only have a noticeable difference if you are using it on limited hardware.
At least that's my experience with the Aspire One.

Re: Netbook of choice? (55 replies, posted in Off Topic / General Chat)
I have owned the EEE701, AA1 SSD and now the AA1 HD version.
I would have to go with the AA1 every time. But only the HDD version. Apparently there are two SSD versions, one with an Intel drive and one with a Samsung. The Intel version is apparently very poor performance wise with the Samsung giving a very noticeable performance boost. It seems like a lucky dip to see which one you get.....
The HDD version has been a star for me so far.
Though I have to say the Dell Mini Note looks gorgeous and I have only read favourable things.
The EEE 701 was amazing as a starting place for netbooks but things have moved on now.

Hi guys and thanks for the warm welcome ![]()
Ok, the AA1. A very simple install with everything working out of the box. Apart from the wireless which I got working using my mobile broadband dongle doing the relevant updates described in the Ubuntu Acer Aspire One install guide.
I must mention though that I did the install via my external DVD-RW. Though I can imagine that a UnetBootin USB stick install would work fine as well.
Performance wise? The system is quite a lot faster than a default Ubuntu install, at least that's my first impression. Looks? Well you guys know #! is gorgeous out of the box so to speak. I like the Ubuntu look myself, so the speed boost on the meager hardware was what I was looking for on install. So far so good ![]()
Corenominal, I can't see many **** alerts for the distro if the Outlaws do a review lol. Fab was very complimentary during the last podcast and Dan said he was looking to give it a go. I bet you get some more positive feedback soon.
Catch you all later.

I am currently installing #! on my Acer Aspire One. (120gig HD model).
I heard about the distro via the http://linuxoutlaws.com/ podcast.
