Ftp works fine
Custom or generic kernel? And how about doing scp? Further to those Q's have you tried a different machine up to the NAS.
generic kernel
SCP?
Yep stalls on Laptop too (wireless) but thats running same #! as my desktop!
Also tried:
Static IP Address
Using Different File manager (emelfm2)
Rebooting Router
Different file sizes
Waiting.... lol
No error messages on Nas (running freeNas)
No error messages in Dmesg
iggykoopa wrote:you could try transfering on the command line to make sure it's not thunar....
Tried using the 'mv' command, same issue
Checking out my NFS mount options in FSTAB, however as these used to work, unsure why they would cause an issue with #!
trying to upload large files (or large numbers of files) to my NAS via NFS on 1GB network stalls #! after about 1GB.
Had xubuntu 9.04 running before #! had no issue with it.
Downloading from NAS is fine
Freezes Thunar, unable to kill process, and the computer doesn't shut down correctly after this issue
Any idea's please?
My latest incarnation...

Its covered a bit in the HOWTO: just to add my bit. I found that if you add wbar to autostart but have customised it, then it opens in default settings.
Solution:
Open wbarconf in terminator, then press refresh (which will load your customisations) copy the command that the refresh does and put that into autostart.sh mine is:
(sleep 10s && wbar -bpress -above-desk -zoomf 1.3 -idist 6.0 -isize 40.0) &
Works a treat, blinding script!!
I'm using Nmap to scan attached IP's to my network using
nmap -sP 192.168.0.0/24 | grep '192' | cut -b 6-37
giving
192.168.0.1 appears to be up.
192.168.0.2 appears to be up.
192.168.0.20 appears to be up.
192.168.0.101 appears to be up.
192.168.0.103 appears to be up.
What i want to do is resolve their hostnames, found i could resolve hostnames using resolveip. However (this is the tough bit) how do i combine the 2? so Nmap picks up the ip and then resolveip resolves the hostname?
i Posted something about this some time ago, i use it exclusively now, its tops, very configurable..
@nintennuendo
Loving 'superfreakinawesomenet'
i use it to update my facebook from my phone, and to follow 'greats' like stephen fry (oh and crunchbang obviously). As i have a wifi phone but no laptop i can update it from there and see what's going on.
Finally downloaded the script. For the twittersearch script i suggest you add the following:
sed -e 's/@yourusername/>/' | \
it removes the @yourusername and replaces it with a >, because its much shorter!!
Yeah i know, however the download link isn't working lol. I've seen it mentioned before so i thought someone might have it
Just look at the comments - it'll probably be sorted soon, before a riot breaks out
Does anyone have a working twitter script for conky, i've seen it mentioned but can not find it anywhere, cheers
I've used swiftfox for a couple of years now, at first (firefox 2x) it did seem to be quicker, using it on my EEE and desktop. However now with FF3 the gain is non-noticeable. Having noscript running on FF3 makes mine run really fast now
most people who know me know that i use Linux (some don't know what it is but they know i use it). Generally since i do most peoples computer issues i gently slide them into open source, firefox then gimp followed by Open Office.
Also helps that my missus is what i call an ordinary user 'facebook, email, ebay' but i have her laptop running xubuntu and she can tell her friends that she doesn't notice any difference.
found it eventually, but thank you for the reply. Did edit one of the themes, was easy enough
i thought that at first, but its a perm delete (please correct me if i'm wrong)
Download Spotify for other platforms
We are sorry, but currently we only support Windows and Mac.
Of course, if you want to go ahead and download the Windows or Mac application for now we’ll keep quiet about it.
If you are using Linux, you might want to run Spotify under Wine.
Booooo lol
i got my EEE about 18mnths ago and Xandros lasted all of about 1 week. I've never needed to put it back on. so far i've had: XP, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu and now #!
@scrat.
Tried listen too, just didn't get on with it, database times weren't too bad but still not as good as RB, hence why i'm still using RB lol
I'm temperature obsessed. thats why i water-cool everything. Anyway i'm not posting about my fetish.
Anyone outside of the UK probably doesn't know that we're going through a rather cold snap at the moment (yes i know we're pathetic all you scandinavian's and canadians will say things like 'pah! thats not cold, thats summer here') well i was just checking on my NAS which is in my loft (attic) and the drives (4 of them in one pc) normally run at 30-40oC in the summer its 50-60oC. So how impressed was i that they're running at 14-18oC. Shame i can't read the CPU temp...
Ahh the simple things
