Hi omns,

Thanks for the link.

Is it okay if I ask why?

Hi,

I wanted to install conkyForecast, so I added the launchpad repository to the file

sources.list.d/conkyhardcore-lucid.list

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/conky-companions/ppa/ubuntu maverick main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/conky-companions/ppa/ubuntu maverick main

Now when ever I run

apt-get update

I get the following error:

W: GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net maverick Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY F0C484CC9BF2D8AB

I googled and found some solutions but none are working. Does anyone have any idea?

Thanks in advance
Harakiri

I'm not in front of a Debian box (I'm at work), so I can't reconstruct the problem. Until I'm at home (or somebody else helps), look at "man dpkg" for help. dpkg is the backend, apt uses.

Hi Awebb,

I will try looking at dpkg and see if I can figure out the problem.

Thanks

Hi all,

I get the following error when I try to install a package. This has never happened before. From what i can glean from the error message this has something to do with the boot. I remember that during a recent boot, I was asked if I wanted to install something that will enable faster boot and i said yes. I guess this is the problem.

Here is the error:

Please help. I am scared I might have to redo a crunchbang installation and with exams coming up I do not intend to do anything of that sort.

Thanks in advance

Hello Harakiri,
I don't know the answers to your questions, but i think you're right (2 times).
I'd like a better way to achieve this as well, but i don't know how to.
btw... I'm rather unexperienced about linux/crunchbang.
best,
tuna

Hi Tuna,

I am sorry if I was not clear in my first post, after a power cut when the w/l router is ready, a dialog box appears. This is not the keyring dialog but it is for the w/l network. All the details of my w/l network are already filled in (ex: passwd, SSID name etc). All that is needed to be done is click on connect box. This is  the part I am trying to avoid. I need crunchbang to auto connect.

I would post a image only if I knew how to on the forum. Will read and post next time.

Sorry for any misunderstanding.

I found this thread:

I've just worked it out actually.  I deleted .gnome/keyrings then when it asked me for my wireless password, I put that in and saved it.  Then it asks me for the default keyring password, here I enter a BLANK password and accept the following question.

Hi Tunafish,

Thanks a lot for pointing this out to me. I have some queries. I will be thankful if you could answer them too.
Do you mean .gnome2/keyrings and not .gnome/keyrings. I am asking this because I can not find .gnome/keyrings but  I do have .gnome2/keyrings. Also correct me if I am wrong when I conclude that the trick involved is to have a blank keyring password. I do not mind having a blank keyring password but it would be better if there is a way to achieve both: 1) non-blank keyring password 2) auto reconnect.

I miight be asking to too much I guess. Thanks for all the help.

Hi,

I own a Dell Vostro 1700 running Crunchbang 9.04. When ever a power cut occurs the w/l router goes off and connection is lost. But after the power returns, a manual intervention is required to connect to the w/l network. I want crunch bang to auto connect when it detects my w/l network. Just like it does when I boot up my laptop. Ofcourse then it asks for keyring passwd. Could this be the reason.

Please let me know if any more info is required.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Probably not that useful but I'm going to report another success (installing statler xfce i686 on an eeepc 900) following the wiki to dd the iso onto a USB, and mount /dev/sdX.

Hi,

People are reporting various levels of success while installing Statler. Is there any hardware commonality among all those who could get it working.

Hi Realgpp,

Does it mean you managed to get Statler USB install working using this method?

Hi mrEnke,

Thanks for pointing out the possibility of a bad download. Will check for the md5 sum this time before installing. I would like to share the error messages but I do not know where to find the error messages. I am brought up on Ubuntu, and it has always worked out of the box. The installation has never been an issue. Guess one of the downsides of this is the inability to debug installations. Can anyone guide me as to where the error messages are saved/reported so that I can post them and start some debugging.

Regarding the 'dd' method that worked for you, I too followed wiki to the last letter at least I remember doing so. And yet the installation failed.

Thanks

Hi Berk,

In my case, I tried a USB install and did a manual partitioning. I was able to mount the USB onto cdrom. But post partitioning when the installation begins, it reaches 33% and then says "Install failed". I am getting stuck at this point. I have no idea what to do. I did google but there seems to be very little help for crunchbang USB install other than this forum.

Still waiting for someone to help me sort this matter. Does anyone believe this is a Debian problem and not a crunchbang problem?

Hi Everyone,

I am also having problems with USB install. As mentioned by others in this thread after detecting hardware and partitioning the disks the installation aborts due to "Install failed" error. On googling I got this information. I mount my USB as suggested by someone (can remember distinctly but I think the link/suggestion was posted in this forum. Sorry if I have got it wrong.)

This typically happens because users get "creative" with combining
different installation methods or because they manually mount/unmount
things, not because of any real issue in the installer.

This info is located at http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs … 12320.html

If this is the case then how do I get started with USB install.
