Thanks for posting about this!

Welcome to #! and the forums!
I have yet to install #! on my m1330, but it's good to know that everything works out of the box, just like it did on my eeePC and Thinkpad ;-)

Are you running any eee scripts to control processor speed depending on power source like eee-control or the elmurato scripts? Do you have 2GB RAM installed? I have heard that this combination sometimes causes issues like this, and it has for me with my eee901, however it was at the oposite action, when unplugging power from the eee.

Hallo und Guten Abend, Bernhard!
I too came like you from SuSE to #!, but pretty much without any detour, not counting the jump from SuSE to OpenSuSE. I am German as well, but live in the US since a while now, so, Herzlich Willkommen to #! CrunchBang and the forums!

Welcome to the forums and #! CrunchBang!
Believe me, you will even more impressed after an install - I am running #! CrunchBang Lite even on an old Thinkpad 770X, which I believe has a 350MHz CPU and it is fully usable at actually impressive speed for that machine. It transformed a paperwork into something usable again.
No need to apologize for your english, Ottomar! It is perfectly fine - and don't worry, they understand my GermLish too ;-)
Welcome to #! CrunchBang and the forums!

I had the exact same situation happen when I first installed cruncheee onto the SD in my eee901. For the life of me I can not remember exactly which option I used, but I used supergrubdisk on a bootable USB stick to make the right partition active with a working grub installation on it - I remember it was pretty much automated - check the supergrubdisk web site I would recommend.
Hope that helped!

Ty, ty, Philip!
That was quick!

I just did the same thing and added the elmurato scripts - the problem is that I seem to have the 2GB RAM-Crash-Issues as discussed in that post, so I had to change my CPU policies for that not to happen - unfortunately that reduced my battery life from 5:30h to 2:50h, which is enough reason for me to go back to stock and deal with those issues rather than loosing precious run time. I guess I could try different RAM...
I have to say that I am quite happy with the lean kernel on my eee901, and unless I am really overlooking something, there is nothing in the full kernel that I could possibly need - the wifi issue, well, I don't think I have ever encountered, probably because I am on 3G 99.9% of the time.
Hello Philip!
Just started blogging again, and although there is no bigger #! post on there yet, I am sure there will be in the future. In the mean time, here is my feed info if you'd like to include it:

That's odd with your power button! I also installed the script just yesterday, and my power button behaves just like before. Had to change the powersafe cpu setting though because my 2GB of RAM seem to have the problem with underclocking that is discussed in the forums...
Hello Philip!
I think it is a perfectly fine and good idea to do that - somewhere the money has to come from, and even though you said you are committed to fund the project for the foreseeable future, there might be members of the community out there that not only would like to donate their time and skills, but maybe help out with hosting costs or something like that, and therefore I was just wondering if you had ever thought about a PayPal donations widget-thingamachig or if I am maybe just too blind to find it on the page.
Welcome to the forums and #!
Speaking about Firefox, I am running it with Full Flat and Hide Menubar on my 901 as well, but also added the Fission add-on to move the status bar to the address bar - every pixel helps ;-)
Not sure about the power consumption reported, but I do get about 20% more runtime out of #! than I used to from XP - can't speak for any other linux distro, as I did not keep any long enough to get a feel before #!
Another big difference - and I am still trying to figure out why - is the power consumption in standby. XP would "run out of juice" after 4 days suspend, #! still has almost 50% charge left at that point. I have a feeling it has something to do with power to the USB ports/peripherals in suspend.
It's the first distro I actually installed on my SSD and I am planning on keeping it there ;-)

Me too...it's the first computer I have seen that with. There was a topic over at the eee forums - some actually see it as a convenient thing as an emergency cell phone charger while the machine is suspended ![]()
I was attributing it to winXP possibly leaving other things powered on that cruncheee might not. I will have to make sure, but one thing that always struck me as odd on the eee was that when I suspend the machine (at least under winXP - have to check #!) the USB ports are still powered on, because if I plug in my CDMA modem, it actually lights up even when the computer is still suspended. Considering that e.g. the webcam hangs on an internal USB, who knows what else might be drawing power that #! might disable!
Yes, the suspend recovery is excellent - but one thing amazes and puzzles me even more, and that is that it has to suspend the computer into a different state than winXP does. Sometimes I don't use my eee901 for days, and with winXP booted and suspended it is usually dead and shuts off after 4 days. Under cruncheee I still have about 50% capacity left!
Nope, no issues here either - it is one of the things that I use my eeePC most for - tunneling into my SSH server at work to rdp with rdesktop into other boxes.
I am running cruncheee on an eeePC 901 (Atom CPU). Sorry I don't have any wise words for you!
--zaxxon
Which model eeePC are you running?
I am running cruncheee on my eeePC 901 and in performance mode at 1.6GHz my fan only runs on half speed with the CPU @ 54C. If I manually take the fan down to 1000rpm I the temperature still stays around 57C.
If I run video full screen the fan does kick up a notch, as do the temperature, but not to any levels different from what the same machine does under WinXP/Win7.
What kind of CPU temperatures and fan speeds are you seeing?

CIO for a reasonably big non-profit agency that offers employment training and services to people with disabilities and other challenges. Also operate a small graphic design biz out of my house, just because I like doing it.
Have a look here, maybe you find a solution there: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EeePC/Fixes

I wonder if it is an issue with the driver for the wireless cards in the 7xx eeePC's - at least my eeePC 901 is rock solid on WiFi as well as WWAN right out of the box with nm.
Have you had a look here yet? https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EeePC/Fixes

Guess I should drop a line here too after being on the forums and on #! and cruncheee for a while now!
I live in the state of Connecticut in the Northeast US, work, breathe and live IT since a little more than the last 15 years of my 35 year old live, but also operate a small graphic design studio on the side. I am originally from Germany but moved to the US some years ago.
I love Music, go to as many shows as I can, DJ when time allows and love to play with cars, boats and motorcycles ;-)
Peace!
