hmmm... I allways add it to the autostart.sh, but perhaps one of the machines has loadet it into the lxsession-manager (root menu -> system -> Services/Daemons) and the other has not... check both machines if it's there. if it is delete them, add it to the autostart.sh

Sleep is in the autostart, it gets the program to load after other programs in case it needs another program to fully load before it can function... see the autostart and you'll get the picture... if not I think there's a wiki entry for autostarting.

have you looked in the /usr/bin-folder? or alt+F3 and looked through your applications?

or it could just be a sleep problem...

Check the file manager... it should show up there, click it to mount.

If it's not there there's something wrong. so check there first

Allways happy to give someone a push into the config files.

And CrazyBilly, I think PCmanFM never will include a recycle bin. The maker of PCmanFM don't like them.

look up the fstab documentation, so it gets automounted

hmmm... ths is actually quite weird. The cruncheee ships with the array.org kernel, so it should work with everything on your eee. Try to download and "burn" the iso again, since it sounds like a bad burn to me.

There should not be a problem with the wifi on your eee and #!...

1) install thunar via synaptic

2) to get ctrl+f to point to thunar edit the keybindings section of rc.xml (you'll find it in the preferences -> Openbox menu) and change the word pcmanfm to thunar

3) edit the manu.xml file (also in the preferences -> OpenBox menu) and change the word pcmanfm to thunar.

Quite easy but you'll have to know where to look, that's the beauty and curse of OpenBox.

Almost everything in openbox happens in autostart.sh, rc.xml (this is where most is) and menu.xml, these files are located in /home/username/.config/openbox

Good luck!

I think there's programs to do this over a network, and in that case you'll be watching your screen or whatever like streaming a video... it will not be an external monitor in the normal case(your monitor will think on its own), but the functions should be the same...

Don't know of any programs though...

It's not really a problem since most of the programs used in #! are easy to find for debian as well, to get the look just copy your configuration files, and themes and so forth.

If you're gonna try debian, you should have some experience in the command line, and also some knowledge of a OS, since you would most sertainly have a base install and then add x, GDM, openbox, the LXDE components before you're out of the command line.

If you don't have a CLUE (Command Line User Experience) try to install debian, but be sure you read yourself up on it, and do it anyways, you'll learn heaps.

It's commonly because you don't use a swap partition... Though, it's quite nice to see the apps starting, let's you see if there's problems and so forth.

through apt-get you allways get the lates aproved and proven steady verson of a program, but not allways the newest... If you want a minimal player look at audacious, looks a bit like winamp if you're familiar with it from windows.

amarok is quite big by comparison

delete/comment the OpenSuse entry in /boot/grub/menu.lst... and you'll see more of it...

must've been fedora core 1 (which actually offered the opportunity to choose exactly which packages to install<3) or puppy linux 0.6(don't remember), stayed with fedora 'till ubuntu 4.10 came along. Finally got rid of M$ completely 2 years ago.

Been distro-jumping a lot though, but mostly towards the middle of the distrowatch list, not so much in the top, I like to try to find the hidden gems. Though I always return to debian or ubuntu. .debs are addicting... But #! seems to have the shebang I'm looking for so perhaps I'll stay here for a while

give it more sleep in the autostart.sh file... see if that works... it could be that it's just lazy

by the way, when you try to reach it, you've already pressed the "work offline" button in the browser?

Try to add the shortcut to your menu... just use the same command as you would on the desktop icon.

Made a wiki entry for further reference, still need some editing, and I think it should be merged with the autostart.sh wiki entry (since it's much of the same)... I'll do that later today...

What about Swiftweasel? Its another optimized Firefox.

well It's a optimized iceweasel... They're not allowed to call it firefox since it's 100% free...:P (debian paranoia and firefox liking their logos)

from the wikipedia entry it seems like it's better maintained.

If you know what you need, and you know you don't want more, I would recommend crunchbang lite and installing the things you need after that... perhaps try to manage without a panel, and just have a system tray (doker, trayer etc) and use shortcuts for the rest (super+tab, alt+tab).

with crunchee I use 180Mb ram after startup...

I'm surprised that xp actually works faster for you though...

(could not access your computer setup though...)

yup, I know... but I'm still thinking of porting... I'll learn something new, and I can make a leaner kernel made for my use... though it's a big step to try, I'll think I'll see what I can do...

welcome to the forums pitje!

why do it from a mac? you have the eeepc to do that for you... just get the iso over to your eee and do it from there...

was planning to check this out when I get back to a stable ethernet-connection.

I think that just to get the looks of it, you need the config files and themes. Since #! mostly uses lxde to make the computer tick, it should be almost sufficiant to install lxde and clone your configs... though I'm not all sure about that (need to test it myself first). If t goes well, I'll post the results in the forums...

if you see here it's not that much containing inside the #! repo, mostly themes which you can install yourself in other ways.

was planing to make a even lighter and faster crunheee for my own use (drop gdm for xdm). the big problem is the array-kernel which I probably have to compile myself for debian. And that means I have to learn something:/

also the eee-debian guys have some nice tricks to make it boot faster and maybe drag some moblin-stuff in there as well... We'll se how it turns out... but it's over 2 weeks until I can start messing around with this, and I'm getting kinda restless to start.
