HI, and Welcome  to #!

I don't think I win, its not as bad as it sounds. Plus you are in shock so you don't really feel any pain. Atleast I never did.

Thanks guys, but I managed to fix it while I was at college. Not 100% sure how I fixed it but some of my tinkering must have helped cause it is working fine now.

Thanks xaos52, that fixed the double icons but not the being unable to connect to wifi.

I upgraded to Testing and everything seems fine. But now I have two network managers in my task bar, and it won't let me connect to WiFi. I installed the Broadcom drivers from the repo and I can see my network. But when I click to connect to it, nothing happens.

I have never really broken a bone per say, but I do have a shattered hip due to a gunshot wound to the hip, and a minor fracture on one of the vertebrates on my spine due to shrapnel. I don't know if that counts as a broken bone or not.

Hi, Great little tool.

do you have imagick installed?

try

convert --version

in console and see if you get the version for imagick.

crunchbox uses imagick to resize the screenshot

It is not installed, how do I install it? Thanks in advance

Although the panel margins might need tinkering because I've changed it since the shot a lot and had to reproduce from memory lol.

Thanks, I love this panel setup. It did not require any tinkering at all. Again Thanks

I own three SSDs with sandforce controllers in them, one mushkin and the other two ocz, and they all work great. The mushkin one has been used heavily for over six moths now and is still trucking along. The two ocz drives haven't been abused nearly as much but they're both extremely similar so I imagine they won't fair any differently. Looking at newegg right now, the best deal in your price range IMO is this 60 GB vertex III. It's only 60 gigs but if you know your way around a minimal linux install it's not that hard to make due with.

The HD I was using in my Laptop was only a 60 GB as it was so that is fine. I think I am going to go with that one, Thanks mynis01 smile

That elegant for rent theme is what I wanted and didn't know it. Thanks Patrick.

No problem, smile That is the theme I keep coming back to cause it is perfect for me.

Edit: I like your panel, could I get your tint2 config?

Can someone recommend to me a SSD that would work well in a laptop that is about 2-3 years old? I have a Budget of $100 USD and it would need to be 2.5'

Thanks

If you mean the liquorix kernel 2.6.36 from the beginning of this thread - that one is only in statler iso from 2/2011. For you to grab it add the old repo to your sources.list:

deb http://packages.crunchbanglinux.org/statler statler main ##CRUNCHBANG OLD

I already have that in my Sources.list

I am trying to install this Kernal but it keeps saying:

@patrickstein you got the tint2 config for that ? Looks like what I need for my laptop where I won't be going panel-less just yet ?

Yeah, This is the same one from that screenshot but the clock has been put back in just comment it out if you do not want the clock.

i like it. very light. a few things i'd personally change:
- you got a huge-ass clock on your desktop. why is the little one still in the tint2 tray bottom-right? or the other way around: why a huge-ass desktop clock when your tint2 tray is always visible and you could just put something like 21:36 | 08.01.12 in there? i'd get rid of one of them.
- i'd make the tint2 bar semi-transparant. i think it will look better to see that ocean shine through.

see what you do with those. maybe you completely disagree, maybe you think they're good ideas. no hard feelings either way smile

I agree with you on the clock thing and have already removed the clock from Tint2, I set the Tint2 to 50% transparent.

Nope, No hard feelings the best part about #! is how much customization you can have over the look and feel. I end up changing it to a new look about every week as it is. tongue

I am back to #! because since it's birth it has been my Linux distro of choice. I can't stand KDE, or the direction that Gnome is taking so I am staying with Openbox, and the best Openbox is #! in my opinion. Plus Openbox makes things easier to find and get done to me.

Linux Mint is doing some interesting stuff with Gnome, but I'll stick to Xfce. Cinnamon might be worth checking out...
http://blog.linuxmint.com/?paged=2

I have been following the Linux Mint and their work with Gnome. I installed it and Cinnamon a few days back before I reinstalled #!, while it was nice. It just doesn't suit my needs nor wants. XFCE is nice but I tried it on this old laptop of mine and I found Openbox to be a bit more responsive on this VERY old piece of junk laptop.

When I get my desktop back I might give Linux Mint and Cinnamon another go, maybe... probably not. tongue

Thanks Stanie, will give all that a go later today when I can get to my laptop that has #! on it.
