I've been running #! updated to Sid for quite a while and no issues at the moment so far. Just watch the sid upgraders thread for any warnings and issues others have encountered

Wise kid right there smile

Quite an obsession I dare say! lol

What's the solution so any others who have this problem can fix it without all that Google jazz?

You could even post a link

Wow 30 WM's??? This is gonna be a fun ride, so subbed to this smile

Underscores and hyphens are also a problem in Windows hostnames too, so its not a good idea to include any special characters in the new hostname on  your #! install.

Downloaded the same iso, but from another mirror (nb: no md5sum anywhere to find) and dd it to a USB stick. This time it worked correctly.
Semplice is CPU greedy! Display too big for the computer's screen.

I must have been spoiled using Crunchbang for such long a time, because I was not really impressed by Semplice (but I reckon having a distro in Italian must be very interesting for  Italian users).

The conky in Semplice is a little large though but the font size can be changed to make it smaller. Might suggest to g7 (the dev) to make it a smaller font but users can change the conky layout to suit them

FYI the instructions for Statler is to use dd.

exactly what I did for semplice and it works same way as for Statler

the normal #! procedure for installing works well with Semplice.

I've just tried it on my 1001PX and it's quite nice!

I  simply dd'ed the Semplice 2.0 alpha image to my stick and it boots fine on my desktop and my trusty old IBM Thinkpad T42

The purple theme is pleasing to the eyes and it matches their forum's colors too

Welcome to the wonderful world of #!

I have #! installed but gave it some zip by updating it to debian Sid smile

AntiX has been around before #! and i'd daresay its close to being the pioneer of minimalist debian distros big_smile

Semplice looks quite promising and what makes it special is that it's Italian smile

Oops doublepost sad

I love Xfce and that's why I came to #! I have never used Openbox.

I think #! is the slickest of all Xfce Debian derivatives.  As omns said somewhere in the forums, it is probably so as you don't install the xfce4-goodies meta-package but just the goodies/plugins you need. And for sure as you don't install too many of the gnome libs and progs. For this reason I like #! Xfce better than Linux Mint Xfce which remains 'mainstream' oriented as Clem puts it.

I run #! 'pure testing' on one of my machines, I am impatient to see Xfce 4.8 come out in the testing repos tongue.

If you are feeling adventurous, why not upgrade your #! box to Sid? I have and it's pretty good..no issues noted

Welcome to #!, loudo...you'll definitely like it.

I'm also familiar with Archbang as well and it's like a sister distro to #! but based on Arch rather than Debian

sgfxi installs the nvidia ninary driver in a clean, elegant way so as to make driver reinstalls and removal easy. This is a well tested script that has stood the test of time

Wow, nice way to go menu-happy yikes

Well without trying to start a flamewar but let me put it on record once again that IMHO corenominal and his chosen Lieutenants(mods wink )  have really created something special here!
I have hardly seen a Forum, especially in the Linux community which is as "open minded" and "tolerant" as this one.
One of the reasons why this is really the only Linux Forum I regularly post on.

Have to concur, as from my browsing the forum it's indeed quite a well behaved community here and I appreciated not to ever get talked down to by anyone.

I've never had any problem on the Debian Forums ... until this past couple days.

Seems that a couple of the Debian Senior members have decided to gang up on me and try to start a flame-war against me.

Almost made me want to leave Debian . . . yikes

Where would you flee to? Arch or Archbang? Sadly there are trolls on the Debian forums and I'm a member too but rarely posted there.

I use Aptosid on another system and their forums can be rude at times as well

That's the essence of #!...a desktop environment that gets out of the way

Keep it, but why not make it like a menu?

Linux has been my main love since waaaay back in 1994 where my first distro was Slackware. Been distro hopping starting in 2000 where I been using Debian (was hard to install then so gave up), then settled on fedora in 2002 until rediscovering Debian via Knoppix in 2005

A WM written in Python? Now how can that be, as it sounds like it'll run rather slow due to the interpretation overhead

Sounds amazing though.
