Solved post.
Hi!
I would like some help with a few things:
1. Well, I started to play with tint2 conf file and I messed it up.Where can I get the original one?
2. I was reading tint2 conf guide but I don't know what is the setting to give the current desktop taskbar a different background?
3. What is the volume control applet which sits in tint2? Is it gnome volume control? What is the package to install it? (A friend of mine doesn't have it and would like to have it in his crunchbang statler xfce.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks anonymous.
Yes I've tried with killall nautilus and nautilus -q as a normal user and kill -9 as root, but nautilus keeps respawning.
Also, if I run nautilus with --no-desktop option or if via gconf-editor under nautilus I uncheck the box for "show desktop" after restarting crunchbang the keyboard shortcuts stop working and xfce4-settings-helper activates itself in session and startup.
Hi. I some days ago I installed Statler 2 Alpha xfce version.
I installed nautilus because I need it for some apps (rabbitvcs, dropbox, etc.).
What I realized is that if I execute nautilus -q to kill it after using it, nautilus keeps respawning and starting again.
What is the way or option to run nautilus like in "standalone" mode rather than a "daemon" mode?
PS: I don't have nautilus in autorestart. After running it the first time it stays in memory and respawns if killed.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks pvsage.
This is a fresh install so I haven't changed anything in the appearance.
To be honest, I don't like compositing in my desktop (xfce compositor, beryl, compiz, etc). I enabled xfce compositor just for cairo-dock purposes because for me a launcher bar is essential.
After struggling with it I decided to disable compositor and remove cairo-dock and found that I could combine tint2+xfce4 panel (I love minimalist tools) , so in the xfce4 panel I have my launchers and with auto hide. So, after this why would I want awn or cairo dock? ![]()
It was really a lovely surprise that I could combine these two great apps because I love tint2 and xfce4 panel as well.
By the way, I'm really impressed with crunchbang and I think I will move my personal desktop and office pc to crunchbang statler xfce after using it here (in my old laptop).
For months I was searching for a light and cool artwork xfce debian/ubuntu based distro and I wasn't convinced with any of them until I found crunchbang; and when I found that this is a Debian Testing based distro I was even happier
So here I send an e-applause for the developer(s) and keep this astonishing work.
One brief question: when a newer version of Statler is released (let's say Alpha 3 or Beta 1) I can upgrade my Statler 2 with "dist-upgrade"? Or do I have to do a fresh install?
Regards
Hi.
I've just installed crunchbang and I'm really impressed with it. I'm definitely moving to this distro.
Everything is ok but just one issue.
If I enable the compositor in xfce then the iceweasel menus aren't able to show which option is selected when the mouse hovers, also no submenu appears when the mouse hovers.
If I disable the compositor everything is back to normal.
I just need the compositor because I'm using cairo-dock and do not want the ugly rectangle around it.
I really appreciate your help in this.
Regards
