did update today from terminal of the system etc.
but still fan so high, any tips ?
another thing I noticed, windows and programs generally are a bit "lagged" when u open them or browse them, I think its because im using default driver video and they arent much good for my laptop.
i tryed some months ago to install old version but didnt work there was soem problems compatibility, and atm I dont wanna reinstall linux mint 9 for check which version there was of driver
SO many dell studio sold out, hope someone will share the fix hehe
Hi
This is a problem that I had with every linux, except mint 9, but Ive with mint 10.
Basically on windows the normal temperature is 45, max 50.
With linux its 85 normal temperature, fan is going to max , loud and noisy.
I found its a problem with those new linux versions and ati mobility radeon hd 4500 driver versions.
I tryed every possible solution i saw on google but only 1 time it worked, I had peppermintos, and temperature gone back to 42.
Sadly i was too stupid to save that page, it was a page with a lot of info on ati but cant discover it anymore.
So if I install the latest catalyst drivers, at restart system halt, and im not good to reconfigure the xorg, so everytime Ive to reinstall the system, glad with linux its fast but it become boring.
I would like to know if u know any solution. I tryed also mesa drivers, fglrx , but nothing happen.
fixed, after restart soz sorry
little problem, today i reinstalled, like other time, i did update-grub but nothing happen , terminal doesnt do anything, ive to do ctrl-c for restart it .
why ?
Hi
it is possible to put the temperature of the laptop in the system info on the right ? And btw where i can edit stuff for it ? If not then which app can check the temperature ?
Another thing, both with installed crunch and live cd, if I click on panel doesnt happen anything why ? bugged ?
thanks
update worked, thanks a lot guys finally i can use it !
Try running
sudo update-grubin Crunchbang. Does Windows appear in your Grub menu after reboot? btw what version of Crunchbang are you installing?
installing the latest alpha
on grub it appear only crunch not windows.
I did the update and it come out
Generating grub.cfg ...
Found background image: grub-splash-crunchbang.png
Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-amd64
Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-5-amd64
Found Windows 7 (loader) on /dev/sda1
Which option are you choosing when installing Crunchbang? Use Largest Free Space etc...?
manual , did also largest as u said, he picked the 215 gb left and automatically did /boot / home /swap etc.
Post the contents of your /boot/grub/menu.lst file.
I open filesystem inside my installed crunch and there isnt any menu.lst file why ?
I did also show hidden files.
for the record with ubuntu, peppermint, mint and other 6-7 dist didnt had any problem. Trying again but still nothing ![]()
Hi
its the 7 th time that I install win 7 , then I install Crunch linux and even if during the install it ask me " ei i found win vista and its better i put grub for master record " and I say Yes, nothing, when I restart Ive choice only of Crunch linux.
I was using linux mint, Im not a Pro user, dont know how to edit stuffs but crunch looked nice hehe
Ive 1 unique HD of 320 GB, 100 GB for win 7, then i left 200gb free, wanna put 100 for linux and leave 100 for backup of win 7 programs.
So I tryed with guided partitioning or manual partitioning, nothing always same result.
Any help ? or im forced to go back to previous dist ![]()
