After seeing omns' recent thread, it made me think I need to do the same. My activity on the forum has been very low the last few months and though I could just stop visiting, keeping my moderator status did not feel right. So I have resigned as #! forum moderator. I may occasionally still post or I may not, however I had a great 3 years here at the forums and its only fair I at least say my goodbyes.

P.S. If necessary feel free to move this to News & Announcements mods.

GH pronounced like touGH ("F" sound)
O pronouced like wOmen ("I" sound)
TI prounced like in pronounciaTIon ("sh" sound)

I got no riddle but GHOTI sure brought back memories smile

Has anyone tried this:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Slim#PolicyKit

to get it working. Supposedly it works better than merely editing .xinitrc

I'm tired of these mother fucking images in this mother fucking thread!

Well not really but this thread has run its course and (polite) discussion should continue here:

Compiling tools:

sudo apt-get install build-essential

Kernel headers:

sudo apt-get install linux-headers-2.6-686

OR

sudo apt-get install linux-headers-2.6-amd64

Depending whether you have 32-bit or 64-bit.

I have yet to try the new #!, but I think there should be a .xinitrc file in your $HOME (for SLiM to use). You could try inserting the command there.

Goldfish - Soundtracks and Comebacks

1. CrunchBang (Statler) is already based on Debian.

2. Not that I know of, but you may want to keep an eye on this wiki page:

http://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebian … 10/squeeze

4. The latest release of CrunchBang already uses Stable + Backports. 2.6.39 is the backported kernel.

Does it make any difference if you try different icon themes like Gnome, Faenza, Elementary, etc.

When you are a mod you can edit posts without leaving the "Last edited by..." message. But since you mentioned it, I will see about updating it now wink

1. What version of Flash is it? If its the old version from the #! repos, remove it:

http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … ashplugin/

And install flashplugin-nonfree.

2. Does it happen with any browser?

I prefer the first image however the white text contrasts poorly.

I use this code inside ~/.bash_profile:

export PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin

Then just logout/relogin.

/bin is not the same as ~/bin. ~/bin is equivalent to /home/sector11/bin.

The new #! uses Slim now right? Have you tried killing it in the same way as GDM:

sudo /etc/init.d/slim stop

Your $PATH doesn't include ~/bin/.

Great to see Statler alive and kicking. Will the packages in the Statler repo be updated in the future too?

@glenndrew - Please don't bump such old threads. This one is well over 6 months old. Also quite a few tips on that page are specific to Windows...

Did you remember to uninstall the old flash before installing the one from Debian:
