It's not whats on the drive.
What the lifespan is is the read/write cycles of the drive.
You can have a 1mb file on that drive. but if you format it as swap- your a dead man.
The best one for flash drives is FAT32.

IMO
I tried both swiftfox and the latest firefox- and as much as I hate to say it- opera 10 is still faster.

If this happens when you maximize or minimize windows, and when conky changes.
These things are all sudden changes to the display. It sounds like your screen/monitor may be going bad.
If it is a desktop- try another monitor.
If it is a laptop- your bum outta luck.

I hope I was able to help and I wish you the best of luck with this problem.

That is very strange because I posted that image from the CrunchBang Linux Lite 9.04.01 LiveCD.

Well, I just checked the dependency tree and it's not reliant on any installed packages or vice versa.

Also that list seems small. Are you sure thats all you removed?

Ya, you wouldn't believe how big samba and cups were.
a few packages make a big diffrence.

I don't think firefox is worth using anymore.
It has become bloated, overweighted, and top heavy.
I use opera 10 because it's fast as hell.

It sounds like you just need to clean the touchpad.
The fact that it's working at all shows that ubuntu is not the problem.
Clean with some WindeX (not windows lol) and see if that helps.

@iggy
You are correct, however, Even though I am perfectly capable of rolling my own distro making a new branding and distributing it (I now have the resources to do so) I would never even once- think of leaving this wonderful community.

@mich
Thanks

@omns
I obviously can't upload an ISO. but i'll list the removed packages.

yeah i did, but it's not rally that big an issue for me since i don't use sound that much.
Im not gonna go through all that for something i can just adjust when needed. Plus it's also helpful cause when I'm in some place where I don't want it to make sound, but i forget to mute it- it's more like a feature.
Thanks though

i have been having this problem since crunchbang 8.
I just sucked it up and dealt with it.

No problem man!
anytime you have trouble with PC you come over to my place, we have some margaritas, a little bit of taco's, some salsa, a little music. Man, I hook a brother up! We have a little party, you bring the beer, we have some beautiful senorita's over for lunch- we chat, we talk, your PC gets fixed and you have good time and make new friends!

[seriously dude welcome to crunchbang, please disregard the above statement]

Actually I reccomend the second option considering it's free.

A cryptographic co-processor is a little less than a regular processor (it only needs to run at 1Mhz)
But setting it up so that crunchbang will recognize it and use it for cryptography and not just treat it like another processor- requires some effort.

But if you want to buy one- you can probably look at the major PC vendors. I myself have a Sony one and it has worked great. But AMD, NVidia, and Motorolla also make them.

Your connecting to an encrypted network...arent you?
your system need the cryptographic keyring to access it.

You have two options:
1. Get a cryptographic co-processor (this is what I did)

2. Un-encrypt your network and use mac address filtering and a weird router ip that is at least 100 points away from the default in addition to disabling the DHCP server so anyone who somehow gets that 1 in 26,000,000,000 combinations still has to figure out which ip's are allowed to access the network.
By that time they will give up and go to the next house because it's not worth their time and effort to crack someones home network and get absolutely nothing in return.

{the second one I use also- it's my whole philosophy of effort vs. reward}

Everything is still in tact. I simply cut the crap that was purely nonsense.
If you booted with it- you would not be able to tell the difference.

aww man!
it's still in dev.
Thats like running beta firmware on your PSP (not fun)
