Topic: file manager with native sync feature

Hi,

After reading this thread: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … o-dropbox/ I started wondering about whether there already exist a file manager which has natively sync feature + backup to a location of my choice.

If not, would this not be a suitable/ natural evolution for file manager systems, as everybody tends to be using more and more devices (home desktop/laptop + workplace machine + smartphone + tablet or netbook).

what's your opinion?

Re: file manager with native sync feature

The only filemanager that comes near the description you gave is according to me is Nautilus. Nautilus is capable of syncing a directory with an online directory with ubuntuone.

And however it sounds like an valid evolution, I don't like the idea of an filemanager relying totally on an online directory. I might prefer it just as an feature that you may enable or not, cause more features are always nice

Re: file manager with native sync feature

It does make sense although there are various sync tools already and some file manager like Thunar and Nautilus can have plugins and/or custom actions.

Re: file manager with native sync feature

A two-pane file manager like emelfm2 might be the way to go.
