Topic: Just converted one of my roommates to CrunchBang!

Yup, that's right. He went out and bought a laptop today, and he'd been talking for a while about finally getting around to learn linux, so before he could start downloading Ubuntu, I shoved a Statler install disc in his face and walked him through dualbooting, partitioning, and installing the new system. He's coming from an electrical engineering background, so he understood everything pretty well; it was just a matter of showing him the ropes.

But anyway, after some driver headaches and an hour of updates, he is now a CrunchBang user! Now if only I can get him on the forums...

@jollysnowman:  Congrats on your friend's conversion, it's always a nice experience to see them happy and enjoying their rigs once they get to know and understand some of the things surrounding Linux.

I have the privilege to make part of my living doing that and couldn't be happier.

Yeah it's pretty fun, and it definitely makes me feel better lol. Although, the laptop he has, an Acer TimelineX, has HORRENDOUS linux support. We had to build both the etherned AND wireless drivers from source, and we still haven't gotten around to setting up the sound driver.

If I'd known beforehand that he was going to get a laptop that day, I would've helped him do some research on linux-supported laptops.
