I just ran across #! while looking for a lightweight linux to power my arcade cabinet. Seems like it will work great.

OK, I'll bite - what's the connection between the two?  I thought arcade systems had proprietary, closed-source operating systems.

I use it to run mame with the wah!cade front end. Just removed the orignal arcade hardware, replacing it with a computer and large tv screen.

That sounds like it'll be neat! I think CrunchBang should work really well for it. Please take pictures when it's all going. big_smile

+1, I would love to see some pictures. I am not sure bobobex would approve, but I am thinking an arcade cabinet would make for a great project. smile

It would make for a great project, and I think there is a solution to you getting bobobex's approval to building a vintage arcade emulation cabinet. You'll just simply have to get her a pinball machine, or Skeeball, even though that's even more room. We ladies tend to enjoy the classics.

I would love a pinball machine! big_smile

Re: Linux for an arcade cabinet?

So would I. big_smile

When I'm back up to speed I need to hit up a pinball convention. Smaller ones are about $10-15 in the door, free play all day! They are the best.

Pinball machines are almost gone in Sweden. It's hard to find them in stores nowadays. Five years ago, there was one in almost every video store. Now you really have to look for them. Then, three balls was about $0.70, now the price is doubled.
