Topic: Quick access to favorite websites in a minimalistic browser window

This script is only useful if you use something like Kupfer or Gnome-Do, as they use .desktop files in ~/.local/share/applications, which are ignored by Openbox and #! in general.  So here are the steps:

1) Open up a Terminal and type in

firefox -P

2) In the window that opens, click on "Create Profile".  Click Next.  Then, name the profile WebApps.  Click Finish.

3) Download the script from http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1238977/appify and save the script to your home folder.

4) Go back to the Terminal (or open up a new one if you already closed the one from step 1) and type in

firefox -P WebApps

When the window opens up, download and install the addon Hide GUI Bars by clicking on this link

5) To use my script, simply type 

appify

into the terminal.  A window will pop up with two options - install and uninstall.  You can take it from there!

Again, the only "problem" with this script is that Openbox doesn't use .desktop files, which is what appify uses (it was originally designed for Ubuntu).  If someone has suggestions, questions, or comments, please feel free to post here!

My script creates a custom .desktop file which will launch the website with the correct Firefox profile.  My profile is "needed" simply because it has all the custom addons already installed (although I'm going to re-upload the profile as a lot of things have changed).

Which addons? Maybe you should just include links so people can install it themselves.

Well the only addon needed is Hide GUI Bars available from here
I think I developed the Dropbox method mainly because I had a bunch of other addons before big_smile

EDIT: I will revise my original post later to reflect this new method.
