Topic: Great work on the new #! release!
I'd just like to congratulate corenomial on a phenomenal release!
I haven't had the opportunity to use CrunchBang much in the last while, since about Alpha 2, i kept up with the updates but really only booted into the operating system on occasion. Now that I'll be starting school again next week, I once again need Linux for programming. As such i've done a fresh install of the new release 2011-01-05 and I am really impressed.
I particularly like the new install method. its much nicer to have a friendly black and silver install then deal with the bright blue of debian. I also thought the new grub was nice, but the really important part is the impression I got from this release.
Everything feels like it is a polished part of CrunchBang. For example, changing to the #! wallpaper and login screen from 'Crunchbang Linux', and paring down both the CD boot screen and grub boot screen to more minimal and black/white... it just feels like everything is fitting in the same style.
The best part of CrunchBang is its stability. This truly is a rock-solid release. I'm very glad things are rolling for the moment, and that we've avoided the Ubuntu style of updates. I look forward to future updates and changes, and I'm sure everyone can agree your doing a great job with the project, corenomial!
Thanks for all your hard work, now if you will excuse me, I have an appointment to make some things go Crunch! Bang! ![]()
