I've never really had the patience nor drive for landscape photography, so I obviously have a lot of respect for your genre and all the work/prep that goes into it. It's a lovely collection, and I'm sure that everyone here is highly grateful to you for sharing.

They're all pretty awesome, but my absolute favourites are DSC4226 and DSC4227. The tones and exposure in 4226 are sublime, and I particular like how you've not taken too long with the shutter speed (the overly-misty water effect is great and all, but I personally find this level of exposure to be more "honest"). You should make a small print of it on some fine Hahnemuhle paper for yourself if you haven't done so.

4227 I like because of the contrast, mainly. I doubt it would speak as much if it were toned down. Just enough detail in both shadow and highlight areas as well. The dark bit in the out-of-focus area seemed a tad distracting at first, but it sort of has it's own bit of character, I guess (the smooth bokeh helps).

I'm currently at the office, so I won't check the Exif data till I'm at home later.... or you could just enlighten us if you want? I'm particularly interested in where 4226 was shot.

Thank you for the warm welcome, gutterslob.  Your interest in my photos is greatly appreciated. As you can probably see I am an amateur...but growing! I abosulutely love nature...it's art in the raw. Taking photos is a growing passion and soaking up the nature while doing so is a double wammy.  You're right about these being honest. I didn't do anything to them...they're in the raw. It just seemed only right to leave them the way I found them.  DSC4226 is my favorite also. It was taken on the Pacific coast of southern Oregon as was DSC4227.  They are both framed in my house and DSC4227 is my new droid's wallpaper.  It is my pleasure to share them! Your idea for the small print sounds great. I haven't done that and would love to.  Thanks again, gutterslob!

Out of curiosity, where was the first one taken?

The first photo was taken in Mt. Shasta, California in Nov. 2010.

Wow, Sector11! I'm speechless! Your Egyptian artwork is something else! That's so interesting that your wife likes Egyptian art.  The study of Egypt was one of my most memorable, and taught by an exceptional man. Thanks so much for sharing!

Evening Sector11!  Awesome! These shots are of  the great redwoods of northern California. Unfortunately, my pics don't do them justice. The trees were magnificent.
