Re: the meaning behind my new avatar...

guess, this could be an avatar meaning thread.  Mine is off of "Green Berets" which I don't particularly like because it seems to be more propaganda than anything.  I liked the shot though because John Wayne looks like a Metal Gear Solid character.  Then sector11 recommended the eye patch which was chopped off of Rooster Cogburns head from the True Grit poster.

Re: the meaning behind my new avatar...

@rooster thanks for clearing that up i really thought it was a gi-joe reference of some sort lol. I am interested in knowing what anonymous' avatar is all about.

anyway this was meant to be light discussion nothing crazy i just seem to come off that way most of the time smile

what keeps you guys awake at night?

Is it that peace of hardware you can't get working or is it deeper than that?

Why do parents obsess over whether or not their child is still breathing at night? I must have stood at the door for hours listening to them breathe. Why do vampires in the movies breathe?? That was also in my head. Then there was what if this dog that wont stop barking stopped breathing? What if I havent been breathing ok I am. Whew! that was close. WHY CANT I STOP READING??? I even read sports illustrated last night. I don't like sports but i read it good article about this baseball player with a big black bushy beard, man he is strange. Wait so am I.

any way cant sleep so im going to do my best to stay off here for a while. smile

Re: the meaning behind my new avatar...

@anonymous & meathed:  You mean you guys never caught on to the back-and-forth between Rooster and Slob in the screenshots threads?  Not even with the release of that dreadful remake of Rooster Cogburn?

@Rooster:  FWIW, Marion Morrison wasn't alone - at that time, just about every Hollywood actor either did jingoist propaganda films or was blacklisted. roll

My avatar?  Charles Foster Offdensen, the manager and CFO of Dethklok in that crappy Adult Swim cartoon.  Only character in the show that occasionally wasn't a d-bag.

@pvsage

thanks for the info!  Speaking of which, "formerly known as tell your children" is on my fav list since you recommended it.

Re: the meaning behind my new avatar...

My avatar comes from my summer job until last year: the big bear mascot in Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, TN. I got to stand around and hug kids and take pictures all day...it was pretty awesome tongue .

Veering waaay off-topic, but apparently Thelma White (played Mae in the original film) saw the musical re-make in Los Angeles *twice*, introduced herself to the cast & crew of the musical, and told them that while the producers & director of the original movie took the matter quite seriously, everyone else involved in the film thought it was "rather silly". lol

By the way, don't bother with the Riff Trax version - they actually managed to make it *less funny*. roll  But I guess that's just their special talent...

that must be the awesomest summer-job ever, except I think it can get pretty hot in a bear-dress.

@saneks: you know, it really wasn't that bad. Didn't stop people from worrying about me though tongue

Re: the meaning behind my new avatar...

@enlightend2:  So long as you're the only one wearing the costume, or it's cleaned on a regular basis!  Nothing worse than wearing a mascot suit that smells like someone else's stale drinks and vomit. yikes

Is the bear really the biggest attraction at Dollywood?  I'd think there would be a couple others... tongue

big_smile I just imagine drunk mascots. huge bears, mouses, birds and squirrels all staggerig, pissing  and vomiting about and yelling for another drink.

I think I'll smile all the evening

Re: the meaning behind my new avatar...

lol I was the only one who wore the thing, even though if I weren't I wouldn't have minded. There was enough space in that thing for a family of four! And no, Baxter is only a sideshow...the biggest thing at D-Wood is probably Dolly roll . Although there are a few other characters too! And rides, I guess....whatever. tongue

Re: the meaning behind my new avatar...

Well, yes, I was talking about Dolly's "girls"...probably better known for those than her acting or singing...

...and then you think about them doing this in front of little kids, and the fun starts leaving.

Truth is, I couldn't imagine being able to tolerate a job like that without a little liquid courage.  Not all of us are "people persons".

Mine's simply a qr code of my name.

My Son was asking about them a little while ago so I found a site that would generate them from text,
we had a play around on there for a while and I realised it'd be a good avatar.
