Topic: toy story?

i just realized that "toy story" - the film from whichs characters debian drew its release-names - was produced by pixar, a company owned & lead by steve jobs at that time...
before this post gets deleted by mods please let me know your conspiracy theory about this.
thanks.

Pancakes
1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 eggs, 1 cup of  milk, 3 tbs water, 1-2 tsp of vanilla extract, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 apple, few grains of salt
Preheat your pan or griddle to about medium heat. Slowly combine the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, work in sliced apple. Each pancake should take about a minute or so on each side. Serve with plum jam, maple syrup, or powdered sugar

Re: toy story?

Oh? didnt know he was involved in Pixar...well this is starting to look like some kind of conspiracy

Re: toy story?

Ha, thats interesting, i would have never guessed about steve jobs and pixar!

Re: toy story?

^^Involved? He owned Pixar for 20 years, purchasing it for 5 million in '86 as well as investing another 5 mil in capitol into the company. See the Wikipedia entry for Pixar.

The Debian connection is even less suspicious... Debian Buzz was released in '96 when Bruce Perens, who worked for Pixar, was the Project Leader...

Pixar (and almost every other Hollywood studio, from what I've read) now uses Linux based render farms...

I don't see why that would happen. This all looks like conjunctive nonsense to me tongue

Hi folks,

I'm not sure, what's your target driving this topic...

Maybe some correlations exist between the Gurus of Hollywood and the Computing World.

Nevertheless, debian and #! are great operating systems - and that's the justification for me to use #!

Have a nice day #!

Re: toy story?

there is no conspiracy. the releases of debian are simply named after characters in toy story. I knew that when my dad upgraded his computer to debian squeeze.

squeeze in one of the toy aliens.

I thought that it was kinda funny too. and now since I know that pixar used to be owned be steve jobs I'm kinda appalled at using something named after anything from steve jobs. oh well it's just a name.

Ok, I'll ask. Why is that?

Re: toy story?

OK, OK guys .... poor Steve jobs has nothing to do with the names of the toys ... the' re partly pretty old figures, very well known to most US-kids (they used to populate my daughters rooms long before even old the Apple II was  available), and  have their names by the producers or the kids using them ...

In what alphabet are Jim Henson and Bill Gates anagrams? hmm tongue

@bongaerts:  ...so you're suggesting some conspiracy between Debian and Hasbro & Fischer Price? yikes lol

right .... ! That would make mostes sense ....

... perhaps the geeks and none-geeks around Debian were (are) avid toy-users and games-and-play-afin, so first thing to remember for VICN (very important code-names) are the names of the very toys ? Age-wise, it is a fit ... but then again, there is a connect: Steve is about to just buy Debian and introduce and show off his Finder-Desktop-Application, and all that as a side-story for Toystory IV, an event we all, and the Debian project, cant wait to happen ... Re: toy story?

I think we're missing reality contact here... how's that no aliens are mentioned in this conspiracy... i'm also wondering what Leonardo da Vinci has to do with all this ...

I'm not sure but I'm positive Dan Brown has a hand in this as well...

Re: toy story?

wow, what a random threat...so conspiracy theories tying #! to Steve Jobs  and his anti-open source agenda...hrmm..ok I'll just write out a little plan here, and let me know how close I am...
Step 1 - Make a solid OS that appeals to power users, but is a bit difficult for first timers...
Step 2 - Attain massive popularity among those power users
Step 3 - Release a virus (like in Snowcrash - by Neal Stevenson) that not only affects computers but people's brains as well.
Step 4 - everyone else buys an I-pad

Sound about right, now?
