Re: For those eagerly awaiting Xfce4.8

Sounds promising but I think I'll be sticking with 4.6.2 or a while. It does all I need at the moment so I don't have much need for the upgrade. Then again, will I find an old test machine or VB setup and give it a test when it hits unstable?  - most probably smile

Re: For those eagerly awaiting Xfce4.8

I have a few old boxes and also spare though smaller hard drives that I can play with and if I hose it completely I can start over. I have learned quite a bit that way.

Re: For those eagerly awaiting Xfce4.8

I am quite excited to try 4.8. I have mainly been using Openbox for last 12 months, so I figure a change might be nice. smile

I had a look at 4.8 tonight with Zenwalk's latest alpha build. I didn't see enough there to generate that excited feeling. That said some of the new features are nice, like the improved panel features and better display/keyboard settings. At the moment I don't have much of a need for these new features so will stick with 4.6 until something stable moves into backports. Hmm, I might be waiting a while lol

Corenominal, if XFCE4.8 shows to be stable enough but isn't in the backports or testing yet, will you add it to the #! repo's and implement it in the new #! builds?

Let's do it and don't screw it.

Re: For those eagerly awaiting Xfce4.8

I have been playing around with it for a bit and for the "average" user I'd say it's fairly stable so far.
The only glitches I had so far where some thunar mounting of my usb devices.
But then again my "testing" is really not that rigorous! wink
One cosmetic problem I don't like is that the panel always seems to be on top unless you autohide it.....
