Yup, we at #! welcome all.  Have at it.
Someday ... I'm going to open the next month thread a day early for me, but on time for omns just to be the first to post in a month for once.

Re: May 2011 Screenshot Thread

@Omns - Beautiful.  Is that side panel Xfce?

@Root-Minuz - Welcome!  Nice job for a first screenshot here.  Keep 'em coming.

@S11 - I'm gonna get you the font and wallpaper but I gotta mow the lawn lol.  What I meant about the Mexican jumping bean on a rocket fueled pogo stick was that you are on forums here there and everywhere, you got Conky Pitstops popping up and disappearing all over the place and every couple of days you crank out another mind-bending Conky!  You and Mr. Peachy whew!

@HHH - That last screenshot from last month was spectacular!

Well I'm still on E17.  I always liked this wallpaper I found over at Zenwalk and now I have a theme I can use with it(does the blue on the panels match the balloons...I've been looking at it too long to tell):

Re: May 2011 Screenshot Thread

@ omns - I see your stuff and I get an urge to try Xfce again - but I beat it of with my OpenBox stick.  You do make it look nice though.

@ Root-Minuz - you should pop over to the My Conky Config thread and pop that virgin in there.  big_smile

@ nathwill - but he also cuts us off a day early too.  big_smile

@ rizzeh - neither boring nor useful.  NO WAIT!  That's not right, It's NOT boring, useful is for you to decide.
- - - Phew, almost! lol

@ ElderV.LaCoste - Oh, OK, now I got ya - and I have another conky in mind too.  Another "made for the wallpaper" conky.
And not just mrpeachy and I, there is wlourf as well, another LUA script master, if the two of them joined up as a team, they'd need a forum all to themselves.  They both do excellent LUA work.

Also, wlourf pointed me in the direction of another form of "art" - Personas - FF/IW (Artwork?) I like it!

And now this! Is that notify-osd in the top right corner? Mine worked in gnome, but I can't get it to go in openbox (if that is what it is). If I'm wrong, what is it? What is commonly used for this purpose? I've seen something like that displaying song playtime and album art too.

Can I color this stuff and the ob menu without getting into theming? It looks more complicated than I want to try right now. Actually, hhh, I might like to just steal your config files. That is a very smooth setup you've got there.

solidsnake wrote:

Hi there. I was wondering how you get these icon sets. Is that a docky at the top?

The icons are Any Color You Like. I run Xfce, the 2 panels are both xfce4-panel. The dock is Talika applet, it runs on xfce4-panel via xfce4-xfapplet-plugin. Notifications are xfce4-notifyd, I haven't had any luck with notify-osd in a couple of months (there are a few threads reporting issues, I just saw a new one yesterday). The song/cover-art widget you are probably thinking of is CoverGloobus.

I don't have a matching OB theme, but I'll upload the GTK theme and icons in a bit.

Re: May 2011 Screenshot Thread

@omns, beautiful and I forgot to ask... are there still issues with Xfce 4.8 in sid?

Hey, awesome, that'll work. It's really the colors that grab me, and they're in the code, so, yeah, thanks!

Re: May 2011 Screenshot Thread

@ ElderVLacoste, Thank you and yes it is. I've switched to the new Xfce panel fulltime now. Its new transparency options are excellent.

@sector11, thank you smile

@hhh, thank you smile and it is has been rock solid for me so far but you know, packages change and come in and out of unstable all the time and may have breakages since I installed them. I've kept my system mostly on stable and just pulled in the Xfce packages I needed. I didn't upgrade to sid or replace existing 4.6 packages. They came straight from unstable during a netinstall.

Oh, and I know you guys get it that if my timezone means it opens a day early for most of you then it closes a day early  as well. No cheating involved (although I may be tempted if we got close to 600 tongue lol)

Pancakes
1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 eggs, 1 cup of  milk, 3 tbs water, 1-2 tsp of vanilla extract, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 apple, few grains of salt
Preheat your pan or griddle to about medium heat. Slowly combine the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, work in sliced apple. Each pancake should take about a minute or so on each side. Serve with plum jam, maple syrup, or powdered sugar

I'm not having any issues with the packages from the testing repo.

Re: May 2011 Screenshot Thread

@solidsnake- I like how you matched your conky with the background there...
@muzieca - I like the background a lot, but it almost makes me disappointed to see the ui elements.  The contrast between nature overgrown old architecture and boxy, computer graphics is hard on my soul.

You mean aligning it with the pole? Well, actually, I noticed that by accident. I removed some previous scripts I had running in there and then realised that the conky might fit the height of the pole so I moved it down and it did! smile Unless.. were you being sarcastic?
