Topic: Google+ anyone?
Would anyone here, perhaps, like an invite? Perhaps?
I'm not tech savy enough to contribute to the tech support forums, so this is my pathetic attempt at participating in the forums. Yay!

I'd love to try it please.
Please post your email address. I also have invites to give out. We just need your email address.
jinnstar@exjinn.net
I'd suggest that, rather than posting your email in the thread, send it as a PM. If you must post it in the thread, ambiguate it...e.g. address@domain.com would be address at domain dot com.
Yeah! What pvsage said!
Jinnstar, I accidentally added you too. I missed the part where you were already invited. My bad! ![]()
I got an invite today too, a few of my friends are excited but most people i know are a bit apathetic ![]()
Meh, I thought google was supposed to be just a search engine, not a competitor to facebook or other social networks.

It's not. Check out this presentation. It explains Google+'s role in the entire scheme of things.

Yeah, I invited about 8 of my friends, and only three bothered making accounts. Only one bothered making any posts. The other two made one comment each -- one saying he was confused -- and neither have made an appearance since then. Honestly, I'm loving it. My friends just never bothered to learn to use it, probably because they expected it to be exactly like Facebook but with Google branding. If you check the link above, though, you'll see what it's really about.

It's still invite-only, actually. The service just started two and a half weeks ago. It's still a closed field test.
I believe they may have opened it for anyone who already has a Google account, but it's not public yet.
Edit: Check out a transcript of Larry Page's earnings report. He clearly says that it's still invite-only.

Let me summarize the last two weeks for you. Over the course of the first week and a half, they sporadically opened and closed invitations. When the invitations were closed, the service wasn't opened up so that users could get in, but some people found a loophole to get friends in behind Google's back. Google has since closed this loophole and seems to have made invitations available permanently to users who do not abuse the invitations (actually, they may be permanently available to all users for all I know; they've been persistent for me, but I haven't invited a lot of people). The service itself still requires an invitation to join.

What about a personal description of your experience with Google+ first?
I have had good experiences with G+ so far. The only problem is that not enough people are on board with it and relatively dependent on emails, names, and aliases to find people. I would say google did a good job at what a social network is supposed to be. I like the fact that I can put people into groups so my shoutouts don't get spammed to everyone.
You could almost relate to G+ as a hybrid between facebook and twitter, giving you the best of both worlds.

I have 322 'friends' on facebook. 1 of them has a Google+ account. I hope this will change soon, though. Google seems to be a lot more user-friendly when it comes to privacy.
