Topic: I has arrived!!!!

Hey guys!!!

Sooo nice to be here!!

I'm sorry in advance if this opening message is a little erratic, I'm kind of buzzing off eatin' too many bananas right now. o_o Also, I think I'm goin' to keep this brief because there's this festival thingy everyone wants me to go and see. o_O

So yeah, hey there!! My name's Sniffy!! (It's not a drug thing, I swear to God!!).

I've joined this forum because I really like #!, and the work yuo guys are doin' on it is pretty amazing!! : D

My rig:-

Custom built computer, CUTIE:-
AMD Athalon dual-core CPU (2.24 GHZ).
Dual-booting Win XP and #!.
320 SATA HDD; partitioned into 200GB NTFS and a 100GB for #!.
120GB formatted to FAT32 for WinXp.

PRESTON (laptop).
17" screen,
220GB hard drive (FAT32),
Windows 7 is buggered on there.
2GHZ of RAM.
Intel dual-coreCPU (of some kind), 2.20GHZ.
Presareo CQ61, Compaq.

CUB (Laptop).
10.9 " screen,
Intel Atom CPU, 1.6GHZ.
8GB SDD.
256RAM.
Porteous Linux.

Gahhh, I know that's all over the place. Sorry!! If you care enough about either of these machines, just ask away!!!

So, a little about me:-

I've got a little bit of Asperger's, and it means I'm a big kid and get excited about all sorts of random shizzle. Also, I go through random phases of eatin' very specific things; anyone in here enjoy "Alphabet Letters" as much as me in here???? big_smile

I wasn't so good at school in my youth, but took to computers like a duck to meth (or like anything to meth really, that shizzle is kind of addictive). So yeah, I go to college and get on a computer course, where I become the product of a world of Micro$oft. Indeed, Windows is my bitch!!!

So what made me step over to Linux?.....

Well, I guess like most of you who are here, I just got sick of the limitations, decided to try something new, and liked it so much I decided to stay. : D

I'm thinkin' of putting #!on my little laptop (Cub), and I'm unsure as to what to do with the big one. I tried takin' a whole image of the hard drive incase things messed up, but my Windows didn't like the program I installed doin' so, I should of just stuck with Clonezilla, I know!!! >_<;;;;

And yeah, I'm such a Linux n00b, like, seriously!!! D: So I don't think I'm goin' to be of much help in the developmental side of things, but I can do stuff in testing on my obscure hardware in my computer, (it's got a NVIDIA Geforce 750-M motherboard, with a built-on HD sound card, so yeah, pretty obscure).

Alright, I think I've made this long enough now, and I've spent enough time hanging around in this bedroom in my underware.......

TIME TO MAKE THE VAST JOURNEY TO THE KITCHEN!!!! TO VANQUISH MY DESIRE FOR BANANAS!!!! : D

Oh, and one more thing..... I use Opera browser, incase anyone cares?

Alright, thanks for allowing me to spew my crazy/n00bish ramble/rant thing on your pristine forum. >_< I'll bring a mop next time I come here, help you guys tidy up.

Okay, so yeah, bye everyone!!!

If I make people laugh, that makes me pleasant, right?

What if I make people laugh about unpleasant things?

Re: I has arrived!!!!

Welcome ShadeOfHades to #!, enjoy!

BTW, if this is brief, I cannot wait to see the verbose versions..

Re: I has arrived!!!!

Why ... but who's on second ?

Messing round, glad to digitally kinda, sorta meetcha. It's hard not to like #! and apparently it's the work of one guy for the most part. Poss for all the parts ... dunno. Have 2 agree this gnu/nix distro is pretty much at the top of my awesome software list. big_smile Banana's eh ? ... Like we haven't heard that one before. Errr ... yeah "Sniffy" ... is flying high on the sugary goodness and potassium richness of a "banana" or two .. *wink *wink.

Messing round some more ... big_smile

Some common cbiz abbreviations. This will save me time and yet @ same time tell folks what the babble is supposed to mean.

Vll ! = ( Viva la gnu/Linux !)    Vl#!! = ( Viva la #! !)    Last but not least, UD ... OD ! = ( Use Debian ... or die !) tongue

Re: I has arrived!!!!

Re: I has arrived!!!!

Welcome to  #! Im an aspie to, and its nice to know theres another on here smile
And i know all about the crazyiness, i nearly got kicked out of uni for ranting at a teacher, she was giving me a load of crap as i based an entire years worth of work based on linux software, which she knew nothing about making her have to do some research (oh shock) in order for her to understand my assignment.

Her problem came when she asked me "why cant you use MS Office like everyone else?", followed by  more general rudeness, and ignorance relating to open source and linux.

When will neuro typicals learn lol

Re: I has arrived!!!!

AHHHHHHH!!!

Everyone!!!!

Oh my.....
So, erm, **Counts** 6 packets of Smarties in under 2 hours, and I'm back!! (Well, my teeth aren't here any more, tongue ).

I'm soo soooo sorry for only makin' this one post, and then running off like that and never coming back, BUT I AM BACK NOW!!! Is this a good thing? Meh, probably not for you!!!

Where have I been? What have I been doin'? Do you care???

Well, got a girlfriend, got a kitty, and got more computer shizz to tackle!!

I upgraded my computer (CUTIE) into Windows 7, it only just scrapes by with Antivrus software on it. Also, I took out the SATA hard drive, because I bought a hard-drive dock. STATAs are seriously cheap these days, and it will help in recoverin' data off of other people's systems (I know some pretty clumsy people).

So, I went to Linux Mint 11 on my laptop (PRESTON), and things were alright. I was usin' the laptop much more than Windows and have acquired ever so slightly more knowledge about Linux in general. Things got weird though with this router and decided to give 12 a try. Didn't like it and drifted for a little while, until I hit Fedora. It's really nice, but way too taxing.

So now my idea is to have a light OS on this laptop, with VirtualBox installed, so I can switch it up into what I want and when I want!!! It's goin' to be mad-awesome when it's done!!!

Playin' around with a few different distros, but nothings quite working right. Then I do the biggest face-palm ever when I realise I've totally forgotten my Super Friend the #! distro!!! O_O

So yeah, I break out my old CD, and the WiFi isn't playin' ball. I suspect a lack of driver. But then I realise it's based on Jaunty. O_O WHEN DID I BURN THIS?!?!

So, now I've got an updated version, and I'm ready to give it a whirl!!

Nothing works out of the box for me, EVER. Ironic really, back in my Visual Basic (Windows programming) days, I had striven to make things work as a simple, single file, with no need for installing or anything. Funny how life can be cruel some times.

So yeah, again, I'm really sorry for bein' so long, and again spewing shuddering-grammar all over the place......

**Starts to mop in one side of the forum and makes his way across the board**

I'm goin' to reboot now and see what happens!!! Wish me luck!!!

Oh, and did I thank you guys? Ermmmm......

It's not often I'm welcomed into new areas, I'm too heavy and cumbersome. So really, you guys made me smile so wide when you gave me such a warm welcome onto here. You have no idea how appreciated it is to someone who never EVER seems to fit in.

Alright, I'll post a little update with what's goin' on after my laptop bows to the whim of The Mighty #!...!!!!! O_O
