Topic: good result on my shuttle xpc sn78sh7 with amd64 #!

I tried many amd64 distro's on this box, but #! is the best result so far. Only problems now is occasional flashplayer crashes (but they are contained in the browser and don't affect the system) and very occasional graphics driver system crashes, if I push it.

Normally I would not be happy with occasional crashes but this box seems to be quite linux unfriendly.

Ever since setting the high speed usb to disabled in bios, it is much more stable than before and good performance too.

With the usb set to high speed, the kerned intermittently detects only one of my 4 cores  on the phenom 965 X4 while starting up. I found the bios switch work-around in an ubuntu forum.

This distro seems very stable compared to other distro's depite the story about the name of the distro.

Now I have #! on my netbook and desktop.

Great Job.

The other thing that will upset core detection at startup is having a belkin flip kvm attached. only 1 core is detected.

I would say, that's a problem of the implementation of the Flash Player on 64-Bit systems rather than a problem of your machine.

Not just 64bit, same thing happens on other 32 bit machines as well

32-bit crashes sometimes but for me a refresh is needed and problem is solved.

Yeah, that is what is happening here on 64 bit too.

The other video driver crashes are not reproducible. For example, I installed kdenlive and it complained about having the wrong version of MELT libraries. It ran ok then crashed. since then kdenlive has not crashed but performs well.

Other internet posts report problems with usb bios settings, very sensitive ram configurations, and specific usb hardware destabilising the system. Right now this thing is running very sweetly.
