Topic: A lifesaver.

Hi Bangers.

Not sure if this is the right forum, so please forgive me and move it if you could be so kind.

Just wanted to jot off a quick note.

Almost lost my laptop tonight. Windows gone, Ubuntu gone, bootloader gone. Tried my Ubuntu cd, a PCLOS cd, nothing would work. Didn't really want to try the Windows Restore dvd because I was thinking about ditching it anyway as I only used it to log in and play Guild Wars.

Well, a friend brought over her CrunchBang cd, (from a blank I had lent her, so I know it wasn't my stuff), and it booted. Short story short, it booted, installed, and now the lovely update script is running! smile

So I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!! Crunchbang worked when no other solution would.

So I'm setting about to read up on this gem, as I'm not tempting fate, and rather I like the layout and feel so far.

So, again, thank you, from you newest biggest fan!

Re: A lifesaver.

Great to hear you got it installed

And welcome to #! ch3rry80m8 to!

Re: A lifesaver.

Welcome to #!. It seems you had a blessing in disguise. smile

Re: A lifesaver.

Welcome to crunchbang!  Be sure to check the #! gamers thread.  Did you try wine yet for your guild wars?

Think it's supposed to be cherrybomb ... actually a kewl nickname. For a moment there, thought you were typing in hackerspeak Awebb. big_smile

OT: Glad it all worked out in the end Cherry, gotta agree with you too. All other distro's have faded into the background since installing #!  Thanks +1 to the guy who cooked CB up ... AMAZING software.

Some common cbiz abbreviations. This will save me time and yet @ same time tell folks what the babble is supposed to mean.

Vll ! = ( Viva la gnu/Linux !)    Vl#!! = ( Viva la #! !)    Last but not least, UD ... OD ! = ( Use Debian ... or die !) tongue

Re: A lifesaver.

^I also have a lot of cherrybombs at home.  They are great for a bonfire.

Re: A lifesaver.

I've been waiting for something like this to happen with everyone I know just so I can get them on Linux. Is that evil of me? I hope not. Anyway, welcome to #!.

Re: A lifesaver.

Well...there was a time where I do a corporate takeover of my friend's netbook and install Linux over his windows.  Of course nothing important was on it from the get go, so no biggie.

Re: A lifesaver.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Yeah, my handle could be a little less cutesy LOL

I haven't tried wine yet. I'm going to read up on it tonight (just got home from work) and try it out. I'm pretty excited! This thing is FAAAAAAAST!!!! It finally actually feels like a 4-core machine! big_smile

Re: A lifesaver.

Hi folks,

glad to read, that #! overkills the other OS-stuff.

I'm a voyager in both worlds, MS Windows 7 sad and Debian #! actually smile - and I have to say:

Have a nice day!
