Topic: OB different folder - different settings?

in OpenBox is there a way to apply a setting like "show hidden files", "sort after file type", "sort after change date", "sort after size"... [manually translated this as my location is not US/GB] to each folder seperately?
or does it have to rule the whole filesystem?

Pancakes
1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 eggs, 1 cup of  milk, 3 tbs water, 1-2 tsp of vanilla extract, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 apple, few grains of salt
Preheat your pan or griddle to about medium heat. Slowly combine the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, work in sliced apple. Each pancake should take about a minute or so on each side. Serve with plum jam, maple syrup, or powdered sugar

Re: OB different folder - different settings?

What file manager are you running? Thunar? That's the default one. Press ctrl+h to show/hide hidden files aka dot files. If you want to sort by date or size, just click it in the bar just below the address field.

Re: OB different folder - different settings?

@beadmaze:  I take it you mean that you want, for example, ~/images to be displayed in icon view and ~/music to be displayed as a list, with or without details.  Correct?  I think view settings in Thunar are system-wide.  Not sure about other, heavier browsers like Nautilus.

while ( ! ( succeed = try() ) );

Re: OB different folder - different settings?

good question, you can do this in Windows Explorer, even though it's not very straightforward in there or anything, but the possibility exists.

Re: OB different folder - different settings?

thanks GuruX! this shortcut to show hidden files will be very useful. but i couldn't figure out which bar to click below the adress field. where or what is it?

@pvsage @rhowaldt yes, that's what i meant.
i remember something like this was possible in windoze xp - although most of the time it didn't work properly...

so... damn. i like thunar too much to replace it with something else.
my thought was: it shouldn't be too difficult to achieve this behaviour.

Maybe pcfman has this? I've been meaning to try it.
