Topic: Samba - xsmbrowser

Hi!

As a new user, I was as perplexed as many others about the ”missing” samba shares in Thunar. I presume a lot of us end up here from the Ubuntu world, and are used to being able to just see the available shares on the network.

I searched this forum, and got a little wiser - but it seems like a lot of trouble (please correct me if I'm wrong) to set up Thunar like Nautilus in this matter. After a quick search in synaptic (using the query ”samba”) I found xsmbrowser, it does exactly what I want: browses the network for available shares. It is ugly (sorry, but it is!) but it works just fine.

I just thought I'd share this.

Thanks for reading,

HMW

Edit: I posted in the wrong section. Sorry. I use stable, not testing.

Re: Samba - xsmbrowser

In spirit of the topic, another is pyneighborhood, it's a good little program, and this should be moved to feedback.
