Topic: What image hosting service do you use and why?

Basically re-opening this thread: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … twork-etc/

That's 2 years out of date and there's many new services like Minus out now.

I use flickr because I already had a pro account for my photography.  They provide the BBcode to post too which is useful.

What do you use?  Maybe someone can convert me to something more libertyful.

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

I just use ompldr.org. For my needs (just uploading two screenshots once in a while - don't need to hold track of them) it is perfect. Works without ads (for both me and potential viewers) and fast.

Let's do it and don't screw it.

+1 for ompldr for the same reasons Unia mentioned.

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

Thanks to @omns I use more recently postimage.org. It is fast and it automates to post thumbnails on a forum.

As previously mentioned on the screenshot thread, I really dislike Imageshack, it is slow and somehow complicated to me and it is not displaying always correctly the images.

Plus it has way too many popups & adds....

Every "serious" (who's laughing back there?) desktop modder should have a deviantart account.

Omploader, cos RMS would approve

Imgur applies some sort of compression and I get terrible dithering in the shadow areas and gradients. Imageshack shows that retarded frog thumbnail half the time. Postimage is alright, though.

ompldr.org

easy and fast

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

ompldr.org is great, but there are stretches of several days sometimes where it loads s.l.o.o.o.o.w. and I switch to postimage.org.

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

Ompldr works just fine for me, it's simple and with a sense of humour.

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

I use postimage as well. It just works and loads fast too.

Ompldr isn't bad either though there was a worry a while back about it shutting down due to lack of donations.

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

I used postimage too for a while, but then my account disintegrated, just like that. Then imgur, but it does compress the images, so just recently ompldr...

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

www.zimagez.com works pretty well too. With or without an account.

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

ompldr seems to be rather slow compared to deviant art or flickr.  But I do appreciate that it's very straight forward.  I'll probably stick to flickr for now.

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

That's it. Toile-libre can be translated in english to free-web.

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

http://3mb.us/ Only because it hosts images larger than imageshack does.  Works with or without an account.

Computers do not have problems, they have users.

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

I have written my own software for listing images and albums and put it on my host, you can see it here and you just upload the thumbnail and image via ftp. You can get the link by navigating to the image. Works perfect for me because I like the control, it's fast and really easy to show off a whole directory of images to someone if I want.

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

@Andreas:  If you have your own webserver that you don't mind the traffic coming to, have you looked at gallery? http://gallery.menalto.com/  It's FLOSS for what you described.  You might be able to add your code to it or vice versa and have some snazzy features.

Re: What image hosting service do you use and why?

Omploader works well enough for me. I used to use photobucket, until one day I tried to log in and found they had deleted my account with no notice and no reason why. hmm
