Re: [SOLVED]Help with upgrading Scrotwm
Alright, thanks for the explanation gutterslob. I have a better understanding of this now. ![]()
And xeNull, it's definitely worth upgrading to 9.34. There's some nice changes from 9.20 to 9.34. I was actually thinking of upgrading again to 9.9, but I figured I had this much trouble going to 9.34 that I might as well just stay. Besides, .0.9.9 isn't marked as 'stable' yet.
Re: [SOLVED]Help with upgrading Scrotwm
@xeNull
Yes, that's the only dependency apt doesn't pull in (since the version in the Debian repos doesn't need it)
Also, if you're installing from the source snapshot without any prior installation via apt, you should edit/create a ~/.scrotwm.conf manually before logging into it for the first time, as I'm not sure if it installs a global config in /etc during "make install".
Here's the Arch package page for a list of dependencies required by 0.9.34
http://www.archlinux.org/packages/commu
6/scrotwm/
Note: Profont isn't really a required dependency if you bother to change the bar_font in the config before starting it for the first time. The Debian version (0.9.20) is modded to require Terminus, since Debian doesn't have Profont in it's repos, iirc.

If you're referring to snapshots, then 0.9.9 is much older than 0.9.34. It's older than the one from the Debian repos, as a matter of fact.
Best to check the "last modified" dates:

Oops, you're right. I glanced past the 2010 part of 0.9.9.
Cool then, at least I know I'm now on the latest.
Re: [SOLVED]Help with upgrading Scrotwm
But then, I guess I would have to add ten different instances for nitrogen so my wallpaper will show up on all ten workspaces
Just wanted to let anyone know that uses nitrogen for their wallpaper, I added nitrogen --restore to my autorun section for workspace 1, and my wallpaper pops up on all ten workspaces.
So it looks like a separate script is no longer needed in scrotwm to autostart apps(if you're using version 0.9.31 or higher). Very nice.
