Topic: A sad day

A friend of our community (DixieDancer) passed away today. Robin was a  regular on several forums I've been a part of and I always enjoyed his comments and feedback in those places and on my blogs. I will miss having him around.

A post by his father announcing his passing can be read at his blog http://robinsrantsandraves.wordpress.com/

Re: A sad day

A tragedy that anyone should pass away that young. Condolences and best wishes to all those who knew him.

Speechless. This is really a sad news.

Re: A sad day

Oh dear I'm so sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family for their loss.
I took a few minutes to read the last few posts on his blog and they are very moving and very wise. It's worth a look.

Re: A sad day

Oh jeez!! This just isn't fair. I remember reading some of his blog articles.
I'm kind of speechless right now. Such a young lad, yet possibly more of a man than I ever was.

My deepest condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. His positivity and overall bubbly-ness was infectious.
I think most here would agree with me when I say a part of us all died today. (Sorry, I'm not the best with words)

Re: A sad day

I did not get the chance to ”talk” to Robin - as I am relatively new to this part of the GNU/Linux community. That is my loss. Rest in peace.

R.I.P - I `ll miss you Robin.

Re: A sad day

My condolences. It is really sad to see such young people like Robin was to go away.
Rest in peace Robin!
I think we all lost a kind and well known community member.

Re: A sad day

this guy always made the impression on me of being an immensely nice, friendly and considerate person. his blog entries and the other stuff he posted online shows him to have been someone who is intelligent and understanding in the opinions he gives. in short, he had his heart in the right place.
never really got to know him but that was the impression he made on me. weird to hear he's suddenly gone. had no idea he was sick or anything(?) - guess that is not something people talk about online.

What the hell? Awe, man, what the hell?

Re: A sad day

I never had the pleasure of ever talking with him, but this is indeed incredibly sad. As someone else mentioned, nobody should pass at such a young age. But I'm sure the Lord had his reason.

My heart goes out to his family.

Re: A sad day

so very sad indeed :'(
its strange.. him being a part of this community, makes me feel he is "one of my people"

Re: A sad day

Condolences to all his friends and family. The last pages of his blog are so moving and he seems to have been really determined in his choices.
RIP, Robin.

Re: A sad day

How rational he was when he knew the end was coming. It feels like a boy hurried growing up to leave this world as a man.

Re: A sad day

Well, that really sucks ass.
RIP DixieDancer.

Re: A sad day

I've known Robin for four years.  I never met him.  I never talked to him.  But through  his blogs, his threads, his posts, I felt I knew him although I am certainly fooling myself.  Right now I feel like someone has ripped something precious from this sorry old world -- something we all needed but didn't rightly deserve.  sad

Re: A sad day

I got to know him this summer, through the forums and his blog, and I am glad I talked to him. He was the most humble and optimistic person I knew (as much as the internet lets you..) for sure.
Rest in peace.

Re: A sad day

peace and strength to all.

i had a close one of god's angels pass away recently too.  looking from the two friends from my school year who have passed away, the saying "only the good die young" has more poignant meaning.  some folks just seem to be on some frequency range that helps tug the rest of reality into a better place, but it takes a toll on them too.

i find solace, that such good vibe people can find places, such as this, with people who offer them some comfort, and am touched that we could be there not just with them, but for them.
a lesson hard learned.
treasure those who remain, and our time with them.

i love you all.

p.s.
i've seen beyond the veil of death in this lifetime... that's really reassuring too.  kinda reminds me that a lot of the sadness i feel, is kinda selfish.  it really is a "better place", unbounded consciousness.

Re: A sad day

All I can say right now after reading some more blog posts is that he was one of the bravest people I have come across so far. He knew he was dying, but yet he seemed to have peace with it and wrote about it so.. powerful.

RIP and condolences to his family!
