Better late than never I suppose!
Hi all, back to #! after a bit of time, being using other distros, mostly as my machine is down and I'm using my girlfriend's laptop - she finds crunchbang too far out;)
Great news there is a new image around, gonna give it a spin asap and hope to be installing soon.
I've also just made my first ever donation on line and it happens to be going Corenominal's way:)
I just wanted to say:
Started my adventure with linux 2-3 years ago with Ubuntu, somewhere along the line I switched to Mint, then stumbled on #! and fell in love with style, philosophy, forums - learned a lot from you, ppl:)
Now, Ubuntu has taken a nasty turn - can't see myself using Unity, Mint has taken a decision to switch to Gnome3 - not me, I'm afraid, but Cruchbang is always the way I like it. It's by far the BEST distro I have ever tried. Surely not for everybody, but I love it. Corenominal is the only person I'm ready to trust with using my money the way I like it.
Oops, image download has just finished, gonna run and burn it and then install it. Gotta go!
All the best and if you hesitate wheter to donate to #! please don't. Do it now, every little counts, but in Corenominal's hands it gonna be put into a good use!
Also,
I truly hope Philip doesn't actually use every cent donated on Crunchbang. I'd feel much better if he used some of it to grab a pint of lager every now and then. Think of it as your mates buying you a beer or something. That's only my opinion, though.
Owww yeshhh ![]()
Philip is not allowed to spend any donation money on beer; you can all rest assured that it all gets ploughed back into the project to keep CrunchBang fresh, innovative and growing!
His beer funding comes from me, and I have to go out to work Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm to pay for it! ![]()
@bobobex
Set up a separate one for beer and I will donate! maybe you can come home from work at a more reasonable hour ![]()
I donated yesterday but didn't get any email video link or anything and didn't see anything about a place to enter my forum username? Maybe it takes a few days if it is done "manually" I suppose ... ?

Not much, but feels good, you should try it! I will repeat it later, it is that good. ![]()
Chucked a few bob in there (can finally afford to give something back) although i'd like to give you what i have saved from not buying windows, i'm afraid i don't have that kind of cash hanging about ![]()
Keep up the good work Mr Newborough!!! We all appreciate it
Ooooooh yeah, even better than Aunt Mabels bluberry cupcakes!
This seems the right place to come, not to brag, but to let Philip and Becky know that the recent donation from Austin, Texas was mine. If I try really, really hard there might be more where that came from. ![]()
oh dubois, you're such a show-off ![]()
you know i'm kidding. really great of you to donate. i'm sure it'll be appreciated by P&B, whereever they are (haven't seen them for a while...)
i'm in a bit of an unfortunate monetary situation right now, but will have a look at what i can miss. what does a Heineken cost in the US? i'll donate that ![]()
<ha-ha>
It's my first online donation, second one went to Omploader whom I've over used in the past, and it felt good to do it.
On paper it may not look like much. Compared to what I receive each month as social security allotment , it's a lot, to me. Now just think -- if every registered member sent that same amount of money at once, tomorrow, whether dollar-wise or percentage-wise, it would be a massive influx of monies into the #! system and Philip could do things he'd only dared to dream of doing. I'm contributing my portion to that dream. ![]()
I have looked a the Mint homepage, there they present statistics about the amount of money that gets donated. I am personally not interested of how much that gets donated to #! or by whom, but if these statistics encourages people
to throw in a £ ot three, it would be a good thing for our much loved #! What do you think?
@dubois; hooray x 10 000 ![]()

^ think this is up to Philip in the end. we have a list of people who donated on the site, and personally i wouldn't find the exact numbers very interesting. as dubois explained, we each give our part. to some that might be 50 bucks, to others it might be 5. it doesn't matter. to me, the fact that you are willing to pay for something you could've just had for free is testament enough of your dedication to something.

rhowaldt, you certainly have a way with words. ![]()
Just an idea that sprang from what someone ^^ up there said, perhaps Philip can let us know what gear he needs to improve CB - along with the cost - and we can contribute towards that; it gives us a target and lets us know how the cash is being spent.
(KInda like an appeal for a hospital scanner, although I've really no idea as to what equipment a distro developer might need.)
^^ Fair enough. ![]()
Just so you know, Philip lives in the UK, so you're probably looking at £3 a pint. ![]()
Just donated again, so using that as an excuse to post here and encourage/remind others to do the same ![]()
[No strike-through, so edited to satisfy rhowaldt

^ nahh, you just want us to tell you how awesome you are for donating again. you also want to make me ashamed of how i told myself i'd donate again about a month ago, and i keep forgetting. so thanks a lot Sabrewolfy, damn you! ![]()
anyway, great you decided to donate again. you are really awesome for doing that. i'm sure philip really appreciates it too, and i hope he's still drinking his beer. ![]()
