Topic: Best Linux I Ever Used

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to drop in and say what an excellent distro CrunchBang is... I love everything about it (and I have tried many)!! The simplicity of it is perfect - as is the initially installed software. I am far from a power-user but enjoy using Linux and enjoy NOT using Windows even more.

** The MOST impressive part when I installed CrunchBang is that it immediately picked up my 4312 Broadcom wireless - simply the most hateful interface that exists. I have had sooo many problems elsewhere with it, and I'm not alone judging by the Forums on pretty much every Linux Distro... O_o

Anyways... fantastic work and I finally feel I have something I can use permanently!!

I am impressed...

Welcome to #!crunchbang and the #!forums.

I have been using crunchbang for years now ... and there is no better Linux or Openbox experience.

My stack of every OS-distro on DistroWatch's Top 100 will rival yours.

Yay!!  We has cookies!!  cool [we has beer?]

I feel your pain with Broadcom 4312. I'm using that too. Crunchbang is the only distro I've used where it's worked out of the box. big_smile

Re: Best Linux I Ever Used

I have to concur with Goat,#! brought me in from the cold. This is the distro that will teach me linux that's the best anyone can say. The day I meet "SUPER COW" he will ask how I found my way here, and I will raise my coffee mug that I want for Christmas!
Oh and the update, love it! Don't get stagnant say fresh!

Re: Best Linux I Ever Used

Welcome buddy. CB is the best linux distro ever indeed.

Re: Best Linux I Ever Used

CB is very good, in particular like it with a key combo to start various apps, great for netbook while dozing off...

Ending your name with a question mark might be the cleverest thing I've seen all day.

Ey Goat?

Re: Best Linux I Ever Used

I totally agree with Goat?

Since i became linux user i tried lot of distros (known distros like ubuntu fedora suse etc and small ones
like dsl puppy etc), bsd distros but i rly found what i wanted here.
Is a simple distro yet powerfull and with lot of fun and things to discover experiment and play with.

Keep it up #! ppl big_smile

Re: Best Linux I Ever Used

I have crunchbang since one week now I think, and I have a really good feeling about it. No need to change, no crash, nothing. It almost make me forget the unforgetable now quite dead project wolvix...

How funny you should post that the same day I was testing Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on a spare partition and could not for the life of me get my b4306 to cooperate.  I followed all of the documentation from various sources to no avail.  Quite frustrating. hmm  So much for "It just works" -- right?  roll

As this is just a frankenbox full of spare parts, I am not about to go out and purchase a new wireless card when good ol' #! greets me with instant wireless connectivity.

Besides, the 'buntu forums are dry, from what I gather.  No whiskey rivers flowing through the valleys as they do here in Crunchville.  big_smile

Re: Best Linux I Ever Used

Greetings,

Posting this here as starting a new thread would not have been ideal.

Have been using #! statler on my netbook for few weeks now and it has been a very good experience. Firstly, can get my things done instead of waiting for things to happen in XP. Never seen such low memory consumption.

I am soo used to the interface that I am planning to ditch Ubuntu on my desktop and have #! instead.

A big thanks to the people behind this distro. Will try to be frequent and contribute.

Cheers,
Deepak

PS: Is there a place where one can report bugs, issues and have a look at the list?

Re: Best Linux I Ever Used

^ Welcome to Crunchville! big_smile But yes, you could make your proper introduction thread, it is an old initiation ritual and sure you will be offered food and some booze.

Any bugs you can find, just make a thread, but be aware many things could be Debian upstream bugs and if you are a real man, you will report them to the source: http://wiki.debian.org/reportbug

So, first try to hunt in the forums for known issues. wink

Happy Crunching!
