Arp, I know this is your project etc, but would you consider to add wpa_supplicant to your distro.
With wpa_supplicant one can connect to WPA2 wifi etc (without a problem and a need for cable).
Not every one has a "cable" at home
Some of us (eg. me
) have only wifi.
New web site is awesome!
hi Klanger,
first point, as i don't use wifi, i can't provide support for livarp-wireless.
second point, i don't want to include useless firmwares in livarp as i want it to stay as minimal as possible.
and to finish with, i've never made nm-applet or wicd work correctly in livarp (i've tested without succes)...
that's why i didn't include this option.
..
so, i can add wpa_supplicant, but you had to configure it yourself the cli way
there is a little howto (in french) in my wiki (http://arpinux.org/x/doku.php/start:ges
simplifiee) but i wanted livarp to be available for anynoobs...
anyway, if you still want wpa_supplicant, i can add it to my todo list, and build a new iso for Xmas ![]()
..
thx for your kind words and support, and don't hesitate to ask new features for the Xmas release ![]()

Cool, not a problem for me.

wpa_supplicant is an excellent app. Very minimal so it is ideal for XXI century minimal linux/unix distro Xmas-edition ![]()
*wpa_supplicant added to wishlist ... next livarp build date : 23 december 2011 ... ![]()
Hi @arpinux.
Just wanted to put at your disposal this evilwm wallpaper i made some time ago, gimping a bit over the 'evilcat' logo from the developer page. It's from the times i used evilwm as my main wm. Of course i won't feel offended or anything if you don't want to include it
, no compromise.
And for the wishlist, i know you have selected uzbl but may i suggest to add w3m, as it is as simple and cool as uzbl but more user friendly (imho).
hi aaro ![]()
thx for the wall, i think i'm gonna make a 'non-pixelize-release' of it for the Xmas live ![]()
about w3m, i'll test it, thx ... i'm working on luakit atm, very cool too .... i have to test ..
..
but w3m is text-only ?? ... oO ... so it won't replace uzbl or luakit
... but it will replace elinks for shure ![]()
..
*EDIT*
the original evilwm logo was really tiny ... very hard to work with this little thing ... so i've made a new release in svg ![]()
so, aaro, i'd really appreciate if you want to play with this "original" logo, you can find it here .. and thx for the idea ![]()

Great News arpinux
Unfortunatly i don't speak one single word in french and that is why i am freezed every 5 minutes or so and try to find out a way in the last release. So, is there a easy way to have the menus or/and the instructions in english or better for me in german?. Anyway, thanks for focusing on some of this *notsopopularwindowmanagers* and of course for your great work.
the iso is available on my minus account ![]()

hi lowrider,
the new release is not in french by default anymore and the main-menu (compiz-deskmenu) is easily understable.
the post-install script is in fr and gb now, and i'm editing the new wiki in fr and gb too tonight...
so i think it will be easier for you to test the Xmas release.
anyway, if you have some questions, you can join the jabber chat room: livarp@chat.jabberfr.org
you can use unetbootin to test livarp (better than vbox or qemu)...

livarp gb wiki available ... don't blame me for my poor english and don't hesitate to give me some advices ![]()

I am so pleased with livarp 0.3.1, the colors, the config of each wm and of course the entrys in the livarp help menu (thx for that). Never been so easy to try out some windowmanagers far away of mainstream. I think i will do a fresh clean install of it on my old laptop. Yeah, sounds like a good idea...
thx a lot lowrider ![]()
don't hesitate to ask here or by mail if you need something.
glad you like this tiny_distro_made_for_rediscover_linux ![]()
Kudos to them who deserve it ![]()
One thing i allways do after sudo apt-get update is to install chromium-browser and mc. The mc is a musthave for me and i like chromium more than the fox. The fact that ff shows up in french and i don't know how to set it up to german or at least english makes the descision more easy. ![]()
if you like cli-filer, you should really try ranger, it accepts same keybindings as mc, support tabs, autocompletion for commands and keybindings ... and about firefox, as it's a folder-apps (not installed with apt), i didn't realized it starts in french, it will be corrected in next release, thx for pointing out ![]()
Yeah, i've tried ranger and like it so far but good ol' mc is with me since i started with linux and even before on dos (remember norton commander?) ![]()
Well, if you plan a next release of livarp take a look on the windowmaker-menu. The entrys there are also (exept for the debian part) showing up in french...
btw, the live release doesn't make use of swap partition.
No critisism, just pointing out...
^^ i like crtiticism ![]()
about swap partition, i've never took care of it .. i think i should...
and about windowmaker, it'll be done, thx.
I have just discovered livarp in the latest Distrowatch weekly. I am so excited to get home and give it a try!
Not being a very technical user I have trouble when trying new WMs as they all need to be tweaked to be useful or beautiful. This distro sounds like a dream come true....a distro that offers me heaps of pre-configured WM-hopping goodness.
Thanks for the distro Arpinux
hi axcraig,
didn't know that livarp was in the last DWweekly, good surprise ![]()
about your "dream comes true", wait for testing before say that ![]()
about livarp itself, i hope you'll find what you want, and don't hesitate to mail me for info, and to visit the wiki ![]()
happy testing ![]()
