Topic: Enlisting in the #! ranks
Hello all!
I've been "using" Linux for the past 4 years or so, since I discovered it my sophomore year of high school.
Now I am a software engineer major in college and I really want to get into the nuts and bolts of a linux system.
I started out with Ubuntu 7.10 and just kept upgrading, Played around with zenwalk and opensuse but ended up going back to the buntu. After the "Unity crisis" I switched to xubuntu and been there since. I looked up more distro's that used xfce and discovered crunchbang. After researching it a bit more, I concluded it would be an ideal distro to help me learn the ins and outs I seek. While I like the *buntu line I feel like It is just training wheels of the linux world. I figure if I am forced to dive into configuration files, file system, and use the command line religiously I believe It'll make me a far more competent Linux user.
So with that in mind I plan to make #! my new working OS. No more hand holding or training wheels for me.
I hope to learn a lot from you guys and maybe eventually become an asset to the community!
Thanks
