[solved] finch no longer working correctly in wheezy

On 01/03/2012 I did an apt-get upgrade on my wheezy box, which was originally a statler February release machine a few months ago. Afterwards, finch wouldn't work correctly in xterm. It still works fine in a tty. In sakura and terminator, the alt+key functions don't work (alt+r to resize windows, alt+q to quit, etc.). In urxvt, the alt+key combos work fine, but the arrow keys don't do anything. This makes it impossible to select different contacts to chat with and move/resize windows. Does this likely have something to do with consolekit? Here is a pastebin of my dpkg log from that day.

Edit: My suspicion was correct, I did a dist-upgrade, it installed console-setup-linux (which was uninstalled for some reason unbeknownst to me) and the problem is no longer present.
